Not dried blood but red paint. The paint tin knocked over in the rush to steal the metal detector and the map. As the thief ran out of the kitchen, perusing the map, the metal detector scraped along behind him through the paint. Red foot prints led Jeanie and Logan to where the van had been parked. But it had gone. They ran to the beach where they saw the van and a person dressed as a clown standing beside it.....

Glancing up from the picture on the metal detector box, Jeannie's eyes fixed on one of Logan's old maps, which she now noticed had a small X drawn in green ink, down near the shore, at a place marked 'Silverdrake Creek.' Leaving the box on the kitchen table, she ran upstairs and shook Logan's shoulder, saying eagerly, "Wake up!" But when they both got downstairs, dressed in thick sweaters, jeans and walking boots, Jeannie was horrified to find the back door was standing wide open, and the metal detector and map had completely disappeared.

Jeanie's eye misted over as she looked at the twirling handcuffs and thought longingly of Henry Shagsworthy and the racy ways he would have used handcuffs in his repertoire. Suddenly a pub door nearby was flung open and a motley assortment of boozy hen do revellers poured onto the pavement. Like a gaudy tsunami they swept up DI Lydia Letts and with whoops of delight rushed on down the High Street. Now to escape thought Jeanie.......

As, standing before her, with her hands on her hips and twirling her handcuffs was DI Lydia Letts. She looked at poor bedraggled Jeanie scornfully. "What have we here, then?" she demanded in her most menacing manner ...

A huge wave crashed over the cliff just missing Jeanie, who screwed up her eyes in terror. When she opened them Henry What'shisname had vanished.....

Dash it all, he could trace back the Shagsworthy's name back to Tudor times when one of his ancestors was the nuptial advisor to Henry VIII. His surname had been quite a talking point all his life and summed up very neatly his prowess between the sheets. How was he going to dissuade Jeanie that he couldn't be plain Mr. Smith?

Oh, Henry, I'm happy for you to be Henry, but it's your LAST name that's unrepeatable. S...sworthy ??? Ah yes beloved, said Henry, Legal Eagle here we come, and away they went on the tractor....

"Whatever you say, my sweet - I've never been keen on Henry. What about Charles or Tarquin?"

Hmm, said Jeanie. Henry, I rather like the enormous diamond ring.... but, your surname?? How about we hop on the tractor, trundle into town and see a solicitor about changing your name by deed poll??

...and at last, he could make his feelings known. "My dearest," he said passionately, pulling out an enormous diamond ring from his pocket, "my name is Henry Shagsworthy, and when first I saw you wearing that beautiful wedding dress, I was determined to make you my bride, although I have to say blue is more your colour, to be honest. I beg you, do not trifle with my affections - will you be mine?"
