Hello Everyone! ?
Lovely new Spring thread!?️?️???

What is your chocolate treat of choice??

Mollygo Mon 10-May-21 17:57:56

But which same question?
If it’s the jewellery one, apart from wedding jewellery, my favourite is a pair of delicate jewelled flamingo earrings, which I bought to go with a jumper with flamingoes on.
The jumper is long gone, but the earrings live on.
If it’s the age gap one-no. A 4 year gap with one boyfriend , but DH and I are 3 months apart.

How often do you buy new slippers?

FannyCornforth Mon 10-May-21 18:58:36

Sorry Molly I wasn't clear, I was distracted by the dog who was panicking about the hail!

Erm, about twice a year. I usually have different ones for Summer and Winter. Winter ones for the past few years have been Next UGG type boots - highly recommended

Where is your favourite place in the UK to visit?

Puzzler61 Mon 10-May-21 20:25:59

St Michael’s Mount at Marazion Cornwall. Most of the castle on the Mount has been given over to the National Trust so we visit as often as possible.
Only a dozen or so people live there all year round and act as custodians keeping it maintained.
It has awesome views out to sea on all sides, and access is by a short boat ride or walking over the causeway at low tide.

My question: (nearly forgot)

Do you enjoy TV or Radio Gardening programmes and who is your favourite celebrity Gardener?

hollysteers Mon 10-May-21 22:47:33

I don’t garden but used to listen to Bob ? on Gardeners Question Time, I loved his voice.

Do you prefer gold or silver jewellery?

BBbevan Tue 11-May-21 04:45:47

Always silver. Only gold thing I have is my wedding ring.

Do you know your birth stone? Mine is a turquoise .

FannyCornforth Tue 11-May-21 05:03:42

'Morning Questioners! smile
Bob Flowerdew! What a name!
I really like GQT, even though I'm not a gardener, it's very calming.

Turquoise is December isn't it; my mom's and my DH's.
Mine is garnet. Which I'm happy with as it's dark.

Would you describe yourself as an optimist or a pessimist; and an extrovert or an introvert?

Billybob4491 Tue 11-May-21 07:10:38

Somewhere between the two Fanny it all depends on the latest Corona figures!

My secret indulgence is Marmite - whats yours?

Mollygo Tue 11-May-21 07:33:44

Definitely not Marmite! Funny, because we were brought up on it and my sisters still love it. A small glass of Baileys Chocolate Luxe is my secret indulgence.

What’s on your plans for today?

NotAGran55 Tue 11-May-21 08:43:30

Into local town to hopefully buy birthday present for SIL , followed by grocery shopping. Home to do a bit of office work and prepare dinner .

Do you grow vegetables? If so what have you got in at the moment.

FannyCornforth Tue 11-May-21 08:46:04

Argh! No, sorry! I keep getting all of the gardening questions and they are wasted on me.

What is your favourite breed of dog? ?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 11-May-21 08:54:41

I'm more of a cat person but I adore whippets, greyhounds and lurchers which I think are of the same type - there's a feline grace about them.

Do you have any funny claims to fame?

FannyCornforth Tue 11-May-21 09:01:01

Ah! Do you remember my thread about that? Riverwalk won with the donkey from the Durrells.
I know that you've been reading the Mitford thread
Funnily enough I got a message from Maw via Urms yesterday saying that I was off Maws Christmas card list for saying that I loved whippets even more than greyhounds!

I've got loads of funny claims to fame...
I'll have a think and get back to you.

In the meantime; same question as love please - funny claim to fame

FannyCornforth Tue 11-May-21 09:10:41

I've thought of one
When I was 12 I met Simon Le Bon and he called me a 'cheeky little b***h'!
It's a long story - it was when his yacht sank at Falmouth.

Do you have a recurring dream, or have nightmares?

Mollygo Tue 11-May-21 09:29:05

Nightmares yes! Almost always the same one and once it starts there’s nothing I can do to interrupt it apart from getting up, having a hot drink and reading for a while.

Just thought of this when reading the sofa thread. Did you ever wear short shorts or hot pants if you are that generation and would you wear them now?

hollysteers Tue 11-May-21 09:39:18

Only on holiday and certainly not now.

On a first date, which book chosen by your date as their favourite of all time, would totally put you off?

Bridgeit Tue 11-May-21 09:41:50

Yes I did,& No I wouldn’t ??

Are you ready to Party?

FannyCornforth Tue 11-May-21 09:42:35

No, even though I was super slim in my youth. I wore cat suits though!
I'm anything but super slim now, I can think of little worse.
In fact about 20 years ago when I was still slim-ish I tried some shorts on and I looked like Don Estelle from 'it ain't alf hot mum'.

Do you think that you will be going on holiday this year, do you have anything booked?

nanna8 Tue 11-May-21 09:56:23

Yes we have booked for 2 weeks up in the Kimberleys in August and also a few days in Castlemaine October which is only a few hours away but still a break.

Do you sew ?

FannyCornforth Tue 11-May-21 11:06:31

Oh sorry. I've buggered things up again.
Holly that is a brilliant question.
I'm ashamed that I can't think of an answer at the moment.
I will tell you that my dad's favourite book is Pride and Prejudice, which must make him a babe magnet!

Bridgit - absolutely not

nanna8 - no, I wish that I did. No patience with fiddly things

What jobs did your parents do?

Mollygo Tue 11-May-21 11:11:05

Nursing and Navy.

I’ve recently been lectured on the invasion, battles and settlements by the Anglo-Saxons. Do your family members ever instruct you on things you really aren’t bothered about.

FannyCornforth Tue 11-May-21 11:55:10

Oh lord, yes. My dad is definitely on the autistic spectrum and has many interests that he researches in depth.
He wrote a book about the Dead Sea Scrolls.
He loves telling all and sundry about his findings; to be fair, it is interesting but you lose track of what he is on about.
He is fully aware of this and it doesn't put him off!

Who was your favourite teacher?

cb1963 Tue 11-May-21 14:00:18

Fanny when you mentioned Don Estelle it brought back memories of the duet he did with Windsor Davies, Whispering Grass.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 11-May-21 15:07:32

Miss Earnshaw who was our form teacher for the two years and also taught English was brilliant. She was from Yorkshire and encouraged us to question things.

Did you have a teacher who was very much not your favourite?

Bridgeit Tue 11-May-21 16:50:19

Most definitely , he was the most sarcastic person I have ever encountered, he believed it was a toughening up exercise. !?.
