Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

FannyCornforth Mon 01-Nov-21 08:54:50

Hmm. I’m not sure. Sounds like quite a tense tense…

What’s the worst book that you’ve read?

BBbevan Sun 31-Oct-21 15:37:52

Me, I’m impatient, and always very early for anything.

I have just read a book written in a very strange tense. eg.The lady is here. She is waiting .’Have you come across this?
It was quite laborious to read .

FannyCornforth Sun 31-Oct-21 13:27:49

Putting the washing up ‘in to soak’, other wise known as ‘not actually doing the washing up’, and wasting hot water and washing up liquid, to boot

What annoying habit do you have?

hollysteers Sun 31-Oct-21 13:18:09

I only have a Radio Times, as I like to go through the listings and tick programmes I want to watch.
The free paper is delivered.

What annoying little habit does/did your other half have?
(Taking an absolute age to finish a meal)

BBbevan Sun 31-Oct-21 13:08:44

I always get up about 8, have a shower and get dressed. If I am gardening I will wear old clothes otherwise I am quite presentable.

We have to go quite a way for Sunday papers, no delivery around here.
Do you have papers delivered or do you have to get your own ?

biglouis Sun 31-Oct-21 13:05:02

My father worked in an electrical fittings factory for most of his life. My mother did part time work for Vernon's pools.

Do you ever have days when you "slob about" in old clothes or a dressing gown or do you get dressed "properly" every day?

I usually just wear a kaftan around the house even if expecting someone. People have to take me as they find me.

FannyCornforth Sun 31-Oct-21 12:12:04

DanniRae my DH is two years older than my dad! ??

DanniRae Sun 31-Oct-21 11:34:47

(Crikey Fanny your dad is nearly the same age as me (73) and 3 years younger than Mr R! shock)

FannyCornforth Sun 31-Oct-21 08:16:26

My dad is still with us (thank heavens!) he’s 74.
My mom died when she was just 50. I think of her every single day. Her death changed my life entirely.

What were your parents jobs?
My dad was the chief financial advisor for the MEB. He literally worked his way up from being a tea boy.
My mom was a demonstrator for the MEB in the late 60s and 70s (she went to posh ladies houses and showed them how to use the new fangled electrical goods smile) and then she became a teacher.

DanniRae Sun 31-Oct-21 08:04:25

I love anything to do with the occupation of the Channel Islands in WW2. Mainly to do with how the Island folk managed.

Do you always think of your mum and dad on their birthday - even though they have passed away?

hollysteers Sat 30-Oct-21 23:14:31

Not ordered, but put aside a stocking filler for DD and am going to finish two books I think my son will like.

Post a random fact about yourself.
(I collect pop up books)

Mollygo Sat 30-Oct-21 18:41:12

Yes. Bought DH’s present because it was only available at the place we were visiting. Ordered Oodies for DGC as they were half price.

Same question-because I’d like to know if it’s just me.

BBbevan Sat 30-Oct-21 17:21:48

Kindle and clock.

Have you ordered anything for Christmas yet ?

hollysteers Sat 30-Oct-21 17:03:31

The Lost Lady, Willa Cather.

What must you have on your bedside table at night?
(Water, books)

GrannyMacawell Sat 30-Oct-21 16:41:06

Not due My booster just yet ( I think).

what is your favourite book (one only!)

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 30-Oct-21 14:24:22

I await the booster in a couple of weeks. Was all right at the first two. I give myself a stern talking to - I tell my body if it thinks it's going to get any side effects it can jolly well think again, I refuse to have anything to do with them.

Same question again.

BBbevan Sat 30-Oct-21 14:15:05

Be time for Christmas lights soon, that will cheer things up.

Booster yesterday, very lethargic today. First two were fine. Anyone else experience this ?

Mollygo Sat 30-Oct-21 13:50:26

I don’t know. I just hope when I need to I will. Whilst we’re still driving from one end of the country to the other for family visits and round the continent for holidays, it seems a long way off time to give up.

My garden looks sad and bare. Any suggestions for making it look more cheerful?

crazyH Sat 30-Oct-21 13:46:26

Yes - I always reverse into a parking space and I must say I am pretty good at it / as for forward parking , I have to do a 100 point turn ?
At what age do you think you will give up driving - my limit is 85

ginny Sat 30-Oct-21 12:43:30

Insects of any kind or snakes. Urgh!

I’m sitting in a car park, waiting for DH. Can’t believe how many people cannot reverse their cars.

Do you reverse your car into a parking space ?

biglouis Sat 30-Oct-21 12:06:06

Bins on a hot day

What kind of pet would you refuse to look after even as a BIG favour?

For me its anything I had to walk or exercise. Ive looked after snakes, lizards, fish, terrapins, and tortoises. I quite like reptiles.

hollysteers Sat 30-Oct-21 11:26:42

I too was thirteen and the kiss was a result of a coin being tossed between me and my friend. I ‘won’ and remember looking over his shoulder in boredom thinking “Is this it?” Bored to death lol.

What is your worst smell?
(Bad eggs)

FannyCornforth Sat 30-Oct-21 09:44:51

No, no I haven’t Juliet. I will have a look, it’s not anything I’ve thought of before.

Who was your first kiss with?
Mine was with Andrew Higginbotham, a boy I found myself briefly ‘going out with’ by accident, or stealth.
He lived next door to my best friend at the time’s cousin. That seemed to be the reason confused
I was 13 and he was in the year above me.
It was horrible. I dumped him.

Juliet27 Sat 30-Oct-21 06:48:26

Yes, falling asleep!

Have you ever watched any of the flight tracking programmes? It’s incredible to see how many planes are in the skies all over the world.

ginny Fri 29-Oct-21 21:52:05

An electric brush.

Have you been doing anything else at the same time as watching the TV this evening?

I’ve been crocheting mini Christmas stockings.
