Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

AGAA4 Wed 20-Oct-21 11:40:25

I have quite a few but can always find something more enjoyable to do.

Do you turn the heating on or wrap up warmly?

henetha Wed 20-Oct-21 10:54:17

Yes, definitely. But I say this every year and still end up spending more than intended.

Do you have any jobs in the house which you keep meaning to do?
I keep meaning to paint the kitchen cupboards but never get round to it.

biglouis Wed 20-Oct-21 00:09:36

Had a P/T job in a call center over christmas and new year (1990s). Just before the holiday I finished my Ph.d and got an academic job so I knew I would be leaving soon. I didnt mind working over the holiday because I knew I was in for better things.

Do you have any thought of cutting down spending this christmas with prices going up as they are?

BBbevan Tue 19-Oct-21 16:37:11

Only when I did holiday jobs when I was at college.

Did you ever deliver Christmas post or have another holiday job.? I worked for Brock’s Fireworks and Kodak, plus post at Christmas and the office.

biglouis Tue 19-Oct-21 13:38:06

I dont answer the phone to unknown numbers so only had a few of the HMRC and "this is your bank" attempts while waiting for other calls. Had men in high viz jackets pretending to be from gas company checking for a leak. They leaft quickly when I mentioned the police.

Have you ever worked in an office?

I hated the politics of it.

TillyTrotter Tue 19-Oct-21 13:34:12

Sorry, x posts (mine was a long one to type! lovebeige

Yes in a low level way. About 2 years ago I had my purse out to buy a car parking ticket when a man approached who was plausibly (I thought) upset as he said he had run out of petrol and was delivering a birthday present to his young daughter who would be so disappointed if he didn’t get to see her. He said he was only allowed to see her for an hour by his estranged wife.
He had left the house without his wallet, accidentally, he said.
He asked for just £5 to put a little petrol in his car as she was not far away.
I gave him £5. He rushed away without much of a thank you and I walked to the edge of the car park and watched him. He went to the other side of the car park and approached another woman - probably with the same story.
I dialled the number for the local police and reported him. I didn’t confront him as I did not know the state of his mind to be doing such a thing. I kicked myself for being gullible.

Are you someone who likes to take a quick Shower, or do you prefer a relaxing Bath?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 19-Oct-21 13:33:01

Not successfully - yet, but there have been many attempts. This morning I got a call saying that I'd won £200,000 on the Canadian lottery which was unbelievable as I haven't bought a ticket. I fear for those who are vulnerable and get taken in by these evil villains.

Have you ever received a call to say that you'd won something and it turned out to be genuine?

AGAA4 Tue 19-Oct-21 11:08:38

Would prefer dry weather so I am with Wiggy on that.

Have you ever been scammed or had scam calls/ emails?

henetha Tue 19-Oct-21 10:39:54

I don't own a cat or a dog. But cockatiel Wiggy would hate going out in the rain as she is from Australia and likes hot sunshine.

How do YOU feel about going out in the rain? Like it or hate it?

Mollygo Tue 19-Oct-21 09:37:16

I used to have 2 long-standing ones. We even visited, but one lady died and the other lady sadly doesn’t know even her own family.

If you have a dog or a cat, how do they feel about going out in the rain?

hollysteers Tue 19-Oct-21 09:27:28

I love writing letters and still send them to various relatives and friends, always stipulating they do not need to reply (they usually don’t!) I have one friend who became a Carmelite nun and every Christmas without fail, she sends me a long beautifully worded hand written letter with a lovely card, renaissance painting style.

Do you own a black leather jacket? Biker style or otherwise?
(I’m fond of mine)

Billybob4491 Tue 19-Oct-21 08:24:49

No I never watch serials - so boring.

Do you have any penfriends? I have 12 in total.

nanna8 Tue 19-Oct-21 07:51:56

I play online scrabble and DH plays online scrabble with our daughter but we don’t play actual boards games now. Locked up for months here so no one except each other allowed.

Do you ‘binge’ watch serials?

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Oct-21 07:49:22

Btw I’ve noticed that this thread isn’t showing on the Active List. It really annoys me!

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Oct-21 07:48:00

Got home from work, that should say

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Oct-21 07:47:03

CrazyH we used to have a neighbour exactly like that. A really eccentric old Irish chap. He was lovely, but always came round at totally the wrong time - just when we’d both got gone from work.

Board games - l live Scrabble, but haven’t played it for about a year. DH and I play cards most days…

Do you play cards? Which games?

Ali08 Tue 19-Oct-21 07:27:47

Go over to hers a little before she's due, and talk about anything that popped into my head. Even if I had to chat about what's in her house. But not let her get a word in. Then abruptly stand up, walk to the door and say something like, "Oh DAAAAAAAHLING, I really must go. I have a VERY IMPORTANT person to meet!" And be gone before she can ask who? Just say similar when she comes round, guide her out, if she's gotten in, and gently shut the door in her face, and lock it!

Do you still enjoy board games, such as Scrabble or Monopoly etc?

crazyH Mon 18-Oct-21 16:38:43

Dogs. I’m severely allergic to cats.

How would you deal with a neighbour/friend who comes over daily for a 90 minute one-way ‘chat’and keeps repeating the same stories over and over again? (She’s due any minute, so I’m upstairs hiding in my bedroom).

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 18-Oct-21 16:12:17

I go to the hairdresser every six weeks or so for a wash, cut and blow dry, I'm quite content to go grey.

An earlier question - do you prefer cats or dogs?

biglouis Mon 18-Oct-21 16:05:38

No, none of them!

Do you have your hair cut and/or styled regularly by the hairdresser? Or do you DIY?

Mine is waist length and I cant remember when I last visited a hair dresser. It was probably 20 years ago.

ginny Mon 18-Oct-21 13:06:44

No. Not at all interested.

Do you display family photos in your house ?

AGAA4 Mon 18-Oct-21 12:00:10

I went fishing with my GS a few years ago but neither of us caught anything. I would have thrown the fish back in if I had.
Have you seen the new Bond film?

henetha Mon 18-Oct-21 11:23:56

I don't wear them at all, since my divorce years ago. I wear my mother's eternity ring on that finger. But, no, I am pretty certain they wouldn't fit my fat little fingers now.

Do you ever go fishing? Have you ever done so? Can you gut the fish you catch?

hollysteers Mon 18-Oct-21 11:09:06

Lunch with old friend, I’m picking him up and it’s my turn to pay.
I always say “Ritz next time” when it’s his turn.

Does your wedding ring/engagement ring still fit?
(My wedding ring too small now)
