Sorry - I dont usually bother with a sunday roast. Cooking for one is a non starter. I just throw pre-prepared stuff in the microwave.

Were you ever a prefect or head girl/boy in school?

In spite of being very academic and always participating in house competitions and events I was never chosen. It was the more "sporty" and popular girls.

I try to read spiritual/religious books regularly, anything from Thomas a Kempis to books on Buddhism. My heroine is Sister Wendy. My spiritual life is very spasmodic, but I like to go to church, again spasmodically as I believe in a mystery of some sort.

Do you find it easy to disguise the fact that you really dislike someone?

Yes I do. I say (in my head) ‘Dear God and Mommy…’

My late mother seems a good source of spiritual support and mystical intervention as any!

I have one a month - usually Chinese or Indian. Lots of ethnic restaurants near me.

I feel I should read more factual history books as I am interested in many eras. I tend to read when I am tired so may not take much in.

What was the worst holiday you ever had?

Mine was in Paris when a "friend of a friend" (not invited by me) lost her passport and whinged because I wouldnt run around helping her because I was the only one who spoke fluent French. Guess what - they speak English at the British Embassy which is where you go for a replacement passport.

Dame Judy Dench. She has had a brilliant career - I particularly liked her in “Philomena”.

Just watched "About a Boy" with Hugh Grant for the umpteenth time and enjoyed it as much as the first time. I also love "Grease" - "Sense and Sensibility" - "A Town Like Alice" - and many, many more. I can reread books too and enjoy them all over again.

Who is your favourite male actor? Hugh Grant is pretty high up on the list for me.

Who was the most horible boss you ever worked with?

Mine was "Mr Middleton" a whinger and a misery. When I told him my grandmother had died he asked "How many grandmothers is this you've buried?" I made a formal complaint about it and a bigger boss gave him a right telling off for his "callous and unprofessional attitude" to a colleague. The big boss gave me 3 days paid leave in compensation so I wouldnt take it any further.

Tilly my favourite teacher, who I’ve already mentioned on here, is called Ruth Stott (I live in hope that she is on here).
As a girl she grew up in Hastings, where CC had a house with a large, impressive swimming pool. Catherine would let all of the local children swim in her pool.

Do you think Gransnetter 'Tilly Trotter' could be from Northumberland, or nearby?
I ask because 'Tilly Trotter' is a character from a Catherine Cookson book, and she wrote about Northumberland in the 1800s to early 1900s.
She was a good writer!
