Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

FannyCornforth Fri 10-Sept-21 10:26:12

Oh henetha you are so fortunate to live by the coast. It’s lottery win territory for me

No, not waiting for a refund on anything. Congratulations on yours!

What has been the opposite of a bargain for you, as in biggest waste of money?
For me, carpet cleaners and steam mops come to mind…hmm

henetha Fri 10-Sept-21 10:21:14

I would have to say Torquay as I lived there for 50 years and it's home. And I do really love St,Ives in Cornwall. Preferrably out of season.

Are any of you still waiting for a refund from a cancelled holiday? (I finally got my refund yesterday! Yippee!)

FannyCornforth Fri 10-Sept-21 09:00:17

Hi Tilly ?
I haven’t no, DH and I have lots of complicated health things going on.
I’d really love to go to the Northumberland coast, but I think we might have to stay closer to home unfortunately.

Favourite UK seaside resort?

TillyTrotter Fri 10-Sept-21 08:23:11

An electric sewing machine from e-bay - I was the only one who bid on it and got it for 99 pence.
It had a cracked foot pedal but a bit of superglue soon fixed that. I used it for years.
Hi Fanny ?

Have you booked a holiday already for next year?

FannyCornforth Fri 10-Sept-21 06:15:39

No. Can’t knit, sew, crochet, embroider. Nowt sad

What’s your best ever bargain?(is that a thread worthy question?)
Two questions for the price of one!

biglouis Fri 10-Sept-21 00:46:43

Yes I loved to rummage in these shops once but am no longer so mobile so I buy from online auction/Ebay

Did you ever learn to knit or crochet?

I learned both from my gran but prefer crochet as you can improvse more.

BBbevan Thu 09-Sept-21 14:53:20

Probably not as neither of us work.

Do you like rummaging in junk or antique shops ?

biglouis Thu 09-Sept-21 14:18:16

Yes I enjoy salads with a mix of ingredients like fruit and veg

Will you be affected by the rise in NI?

I am a working pensioner but self employed so it doesnt affect me.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 09-Sept-21 14:15:43

I might iron a camisole if it's badly creased up but not otherwise.

Do you enjoy salads?

MiniMoon Thu 09-Sept-21 13:35:06

I have fallen in love with my air fryer, so air fried chips are my favourites at the moment. When the novelty wears off, it's probably back to lovely creamed potatoes.

Do you iron underwear? My mother used to, I don't.

DanniRae Thu 09-Sept-21 12:13:40

I mostly eat apples - especially Royal Gala. They are sweet and crispy smile

What is your favourite way to cook potatoes?

nanna8 Thu 09-Sept-21 11:16:50

I’ve got 2 avocados growing . One is over 6 foot tall but no sign of any avocados, sadly. It is usually too cold for them down here in Melbourne.

What fruit do you eat mostly? Strawberries for me.

henetha Thu 09-Sept-21 11:10:10

I have done in the past, years ago with my husband. We made carrot whisky, elderflower wine, some beer etc. Some of it was excellent, especially the carrot whisky.

Have you tried growing plants from fruit pips/stones?
I've got three lemon plants which I grew from pips. They have to be organic lemons. And old aunt of mine used to have a huge plant which she grew from a peach stone.

Mollygo Wed 08-Sept-21 17:01:05

Travelsafar, I was in work. We all crowded in to the meeting room which had a biggish TV screen.
When I go out for a meal I’ll choose something different if the menu is interesting enough. DH only looks for 2 things on a menu.

My BiL has just given me some home grown cider. Do you make, or would you drink home made alcohol?

crazyH Wed 08-Sept-21 15:53:46

Since no one noticed Travelsafar's question, I will answer that and also the last question by FC
1) Travelsafar, I was in the lounge with the TV on - my son and his friend were painting my walls and I remember shouting out to them that something awful was happening in America - they rushed in, watched a bit and went back to painting. I sat glued to the TV for the next few hours
2) FC, most, most unlikely that I will marry again, but if I did, it would be in a lovely white silk trouser suit.
Q : What's do you usually order , when you go out for a meal ? Same old thing or are you adventurous and choose something unusual on the menu?

FannyCornforth Wed 08-Sept-21 15:02:43

No romantic proposal

If you were to get married in the near future, what would you choose to wear?

biglouis Wed 08-Sept-21 14:54:53

Simple registry office back in 1965. Divorced 5 years later by mutual consent.

Did you have a romantic proposal? If not married would you like one?

BBbevan Wed 08-Sept-21 10:30:51

No I like a good thunderstorm, and I won’t have to water the garden.

If you got married, what sort of wedding did you have ? Me, simple registry office in 1965

henetha Wed 08-Sept-21 10:04:26

No, mine has stayed the same for years. It's this morning actually, so I put the bins and boxes out late last night.

It's forecast thunderstorms here today. I don't like it!
Are you scared of them?

Mollygo Wed 08-Sept-21 09:49:13

North/South and it means that we have to have warm colours in the living room blinds for the dining room and shutters for the kitchen.

After nearly 40 years, our bin day has changed. I’ve set my alarm to remind me.
Has yours changed this year, or recently?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 08-Sept-21 08:57:41

It used to be any old trifle but now it's Eton Mess - heaven on earth!

What is the orientation (north/south, etc) of your dwelling and how much difference does it make to you?

travelsafar Wed 08-Sept-21 08:56:39

Syrup sponge pudding with custard.

Do you remember where you were when 9/11 happened??

nanna8 Wed 08-Sept-21 08:54:16

Large ones, bigger the better! If you get bored you can move to someone else.

What is your favourite dessert?

DanniRae Wed 08-Sept-21 07:47:47

I took close family and friends to a local restaurant - it was a beautiful, sunny day and after the meal we all sat out on the balcony and chatted. I was very happy with the way it turned out grin and glad I had resisted having a party!

Do you enjoy large gatherings or small ones?

MiniMoon Tue 07-Sept-21 20:55:11

DD got a lovely rug from IKEA. Last rug we bought was from our local carpet and flooring store. It's just 10 minutes walk away.

Did you have a big party for your 70th birthday. Mine is currently being arranged?.
