Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

crazyH Mon 22-Nov-21 15:49:21

Yes - big family, so had to start early. 5 adults, 2 teenagers, 4 kiddos….it’s mostly money, with a token gift

Have you ever had a surprise windfall ?

AGAA4 Mon 22-Nov-21 13:45:53

Ugh no. Can't stand the stuff.

Have you bought any Christmas presents yet?

TillyTrotter Mon 22-Nov-21 13:29:59

I do like Christmas pudding, but only on Christmas Day. My dad used to fry portions of the leftovers and eat it for days afterwards yup ?
Shinamae just want to applaud you for being in recovery ?

Sticking with the food and drink theme have you ever drunk Egg Nog? (or Warnink’s Advocaat was the much-advertised brand name drink). I would say Yuk!

Shinamae Mon 22-Nov-21 12:06:51

I think mine is my aunt may who always worried about me and I so regret the sleepless nights l gave her. She told me she prayed for me every night ?

Shinamae Mon 22-Nov-21 12:05:29

Being a recovering alcoholic who got myself in a lot of trouble when I was actually drinking, yes I do believe I have a guardian angel although I am not religious

Do you like Christmas pudding? (I can’t stand it)

DanniRae Mon 22-Nov-21 12:00:55

My paternal Grandma - although she died before I was born I have always felt a connection with her. It would be lovely to be able to meet her.

Do you feel that you have a Guardian Angel? (I feel that mine is my paternal Grandma smile)

hollysteers Mon 22-Nov-21 11:06:17

No, but I sang the odd solo now and again.

If you had a day in heaven, who would be the first person you would look for?
(My husband)

henetha Mon 22-Nov-21 10:26:59

English. Language and literature. Always, from an early age.

Did your school have a choir? If so, were you in it?

AGAA4 Mon 22-Nov-21 08:16:00

Yes we studied Charge of the Light Brigade " half a league, half a league onwards rode the 600." I remember a lot more but may not have all the words right.

What was your favourite subject at school?

Mollygo Sun 21-Nov-21 17:33:09

Yes we studied several plays. My favourites were Troilus and Cressida and 12th Night but the quotes I remember best come from The Scottish Play because we performed it.

Do you remember any of the poetry you were obliged to learn at school?

DanniRae Sun 21-Nov-21 17:16:06

"The quality of mercy is not strained. It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven. Upon the place beneath........."
The Merchant of Venice
It's about 60 years since I had to learn that - so not bad going I think?

Did you study Shakespeare at school and if so, did you like it?

hollysteers Sun 21-Nov-21 13:50:39

Yes, but not severely and it went away of its own accord,

Is there something you memorised at school which you still remember?
(Psalm 121 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help”)

henetha Sun 21-Nov-21 10:55:08

Almost daily. I got into the habit of not going out (Covid, of course) and grew more and more lethargic and fed up.
So I'm making more effort now and it helps.

Have you ever had athlete's foot? And did you treat it successfully?

AGAA4 Sun 21-Nov-21 10:25:19

Yes when I was 16 and was told I would have 2 husband's during my lifetime and one would have the letter M as the first letter of his surname. I have only had one husband and his surname did begin with M.

Do you go out every day?

TillyTrotter Sun 21-Nov-21 06:37:14

No, but I am using an iPad every day and the day and date are constantly in the L/H corner which helps ?

Have you ever had your fortune told?

BBbevan Sun 21-Nov-21 06:20:09

About 4 30 I think. We have a big tree at the front of the house which takes a bit of light anyway.

Do you often wonder what day it is?

Mollygo Sat 20-Nov-21 17:59:44

My mum did an occasional damn! I don’t remember my dad swearing. Thinking back she might have referred to a silly beggar, but with a different vowel, but we didn’t use swear words so I’m not sure.

What time did you need the lights on tonight?

hollysteers Sat 20-Nov-21 12:09:42

No, sometimes I have to force myself to eat something. I feel more like eating as the morning goes on. I never miss a full breakfast when I go away however!

Did you hear your parents swear?

AGAA4 Sat 20-Nov-21 11:19:08

No I wouldn't like pink hair but I met a friend who has died her fringe purple. She looked good.

Do you always eat breakfast?

henetha Sat 20-Nov-21 10:51:10

Rural, and mostly very happy with it. Just miss being by the sea sometimes.

Would you like pink hair? Or any colour other than grey.

BBbevan Sat 20-Nov-21 05:40:04

If I had a dog to walk at night, yes possibly. But they are highly unattractive ,colours, shape, material, articles of clothing but necessary I suppose.

Do you live in an urban or a rural area. And are you happy there ?

Mollygo Fri 19-Nov-21 20:00:56

No. I’ve put it on to record so I can skim through, but I’m up to series 5 of Murdoch Mysteries.
We watch 2-3 per night except Mondays, or unless I’m out, so the series will last us a long time.

I’ve just bought a high viz coat for walking the dog at night. Would you wear one?

hollysteers Fri 19-Nov-21 19:49:00

No, worthy as it is.

What would you never wear?
(A crop top)

crazyH Fri 19-Nov-21 19:31:01

Same as lbc - a car full of youngsters overtook me on an A road (or was it B) and then I caught up with them at the lights. When the green light came on, I moved forward, but the said car stalled and was still struggling with the ignition, while I accelerated and continued on my way?

Are you watching Children in Need? I’ll watch it here and there if there’s someone interesting on.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 19-Nov-21 16:00:09

Yes - a young man behind was annoyed because I stuck to the speed limit. Also, during a driving lesson a male driver (with family aboard) got impatient and overtook me on a narrow country lane. My instructor laughed out loud when we rounded another couple of bends and saw him stopped, getting a finger wagging off a policemen.

I think the above is called Karma - have you ever seen someone get their comeuppance?
