Hello again and Merry Christmas Questioners and Answerers!?

Not ‘what is the best present that you have received?’, instead;

What is the best present that you have given?
Are you a good gifter?

(I’m going to have to think about it, but I do think that I’m rather good at choosing presents)

BBbevan Thu 27-Jan-22 16:32:45

57 years at the beginning of this month. Mostly good.?

If you and your DH or partner went into a shop to buy something specific , would you independently chose the same thing? We do that constantly.

biglouis Sat 29-Jan-22 01:03:31

I dont have a partner so unable to answer this. When I was married (many years ago) our tastes rarely coincided.

Still thinking about shopping or similar have you ever challenged someone who pushed into or dodged a checkout queue?

FannyCornforth Sat 29-Jan-22 07:50:37

Not that I can remember. But I probably have done.
Haven’t been in a shop for yonks!

Which radio programs do you enjoy?

biglouis Sat 29-Jan-22 12:09:42

Mostly just have local radio on as a music background. I enjoy 60s/70s pop, country and western and easy listening. I sometimes like Indian music as it goes for ages with no chat in between,

Do you prefer the Sky or the BBC news channel? I find Sky gives more of an international perspective. For example Europe is more concernbed about events in Ukraine but we are obsessed with trivia about parties and cake.

crazyH Sat 29-Jan-22 14:01:27

SKY News, for the same reasons as biglois

I’m on to saving money this year ……started, by unplugging all electric appliances before going to bed. What bad habit are you trying to give up?

Mollygo Sat 29-Jan-22 15:27:42

Crazy H it’s a very good point. All those little lights gradually add up. We unplug every thing except the fridge and the router. I remember Michael MacIntyre saying, “we trust the fridge” and I don’t have time every morning to reset everything the router is involved with, including our home phone.
Bad habit I’d like to give up? I’d like to walk to the local shop every time, instead of driving, especially when I need milk. If only it wasn’t at the bottom of a half mile hill.

Mollygo Sat 29-Jan-22 15:30:23

How far do you have to walk to the nearest useful shop?

Allegretto Sat 29-Jan-22 16:56:52

I have a health food store about 300m away, a butcher about 500m away and a small Tesco less than a kilometre away. I love being able to walk to the shops.
Do you have a wee sleep at any point during the day?

BBbevan Sat 29-Jan-22 17:17:05

Yes, I sleep badly and am nearly always awake between 3 and 4, though I might sleep for a bit after that. So I often have a half hour after lunch.

We have just had our Sainsbury delivery. For some reason I have15 bell peppers. !!!
Have you ever had strange deliveries?

hollysteers Sun 30-Jan-22 00:37:59

No, I only used deliveries for a short patch during the first lockdown.

Have you ever had extensions in your hair or worn a wig/false piece?

Grandpajo Sun 30-Jan-22 06:40:27

I did occasionally run around in my wife's blond wig playing the fool. She never wore it.

Have you ever woken up after a dream feeling really depressed?

Lipstick Sun 30-Jan-22 08:56:44

Yes a lot and sometimes very confused

Will you continue to wear a mask?

AGAA4 Sun 30-Jan-22 09:01:51

Yes. I hope most people will too.

Are you concerned about all the price rises?

Mollygo Sun 30-Jan-22 09:03:46

Yes in places where I feel safer doing so or where I’m asked to wear one.

Do you have a set of bathroom scales and do you keep them in the bathroom?

BBbevan Sun 30-Jan-22 09:28:56

Not terribly concerned about price rises for ourselves, but for my DD and my DS with young families , yes. And for all struggling families.
Yes we have bathroom scales, in the bathroom, but I very rarely weigh myself.

Have you ever ridden a horse? Bit of a random question but it just popped into my head

Lipstick Sun 30-Jan-22 09:43:05

No. Have been terrified of horses all my life.

Red sauce or brown sauce?

henetha Sun 30-Jan-22 09:53:43

Brown, mostly. Just red occasionally.

Have you got a bicycle and ride frequently, or occasionally?

crazyH Sun 30-Jan-22 10:06:43

No, not now - bad right knee

Are you having a Sunday lie-in?

AGAA4 Sun 30-Jan-22 11:01:22

I was up at 8 but I am still in my dressing gown. As I am going out soon I will shower and dress shortly.

Do you enjoy writing? I used to write a lot but not as much recently.

biglouis Sun 30-Jan-22 16:55:00

Ive loved writing since I was a small girl and I later became an academic when I did a Ph.d. I now find that I am again turning to writing in my "golden years". Ive previously published a book and a number of articles.

Do you ever just binge watch TV box sets without guilt on cold winter sundays? I do.

FannyCornforth Sun 30-Jan-22 23:39:20

Yes, of course! But I’m not much of a TV watcher as I prefer radio.

Never feel guilty about enjoying yourself!

Favourite brand / type / flavour of potato / maize snack?
For me it’s Snaps, RS French Fries and RS hula hoops

BBbevan Mon 31-Jan-22 04:35:57

Love crisps but don't eat them much. Have just found some made from peas by a company called Eaten Path. I have those now and then.

How often do you change your bed linen or as DH calls it's duvet wrestling' ? Once a week here.

Grandpajo Mon 31-Jan-22 06:20:41

About every fortnight the wife changes it.

Would you say you're extrovert or introverted or somewhere in between.I'm quite introverted and have suffered social anxiety all my life except when I force myself to appear confident. How about you?

FannyCornforth Mon 31-Jan-22 07:44:03

Pretty much exactly like you Grandpajo!
But I think that I’m getting more confident with age.
I found work very difficult, so it’s easier now that I don’t go to work. Dealing with lots of people exhausted me, and I struggle with constant chatter around me.
I find people draining.
But I love the friendship and social interaction on GN.
Along with Audible, Amazon and Ocado; GN makes my life much easier.

Same question please - extrovert/ introvert/ balance?

BBbevan Mon 31-Jan-22 11:20:28

Difficult to say. I think I ‘m happiest with my own company and DH. But I do enjoy quiet social gatherings. Big noisy parties No.

Just made eight cottage pies for the freezer. Do you batch cook?
