I find it difficult to choose between mum and dad. Dad believed in me, and my ambitions, right from when I was young, but Mum still makes me feel special.
My dear old mum (sorry dad ) I would choose her as I have never felt as loved as she made me feel. I know Mr R and my kids love me but she always made me feel special. Oh dear just thinking about her is making me feel emotional. But I do realise how fortunate I am to have had such a loving, special mum. Same question again, please
I doubt we will get anything. We have electricity but no gas. We heat our house with oil. Also we never ever qualify for any benefits because we have savings. But for the moment we are fine. I hope those that need it get it as promised.
If you could spend one day with someone no longer with you, who would that be?
No - its a long time since I bought clothes. I make things last. I got my last shoes from Amazon and my last clothes (kaftans) from the USA.
Are you satisfied with the measures announced today to alleviate the fuel price crisis?
I will benefit from the pensioner and disability grants but I think they are a bit of a sticking plaster solution. They need to cut VAT on fuel, green levies and the standing charge.
Yes, it's a strange thing that emerges when we get old, I find. I'm proud to make it known I am 84, - heaven knows why! And now I find myself cheerfully saying "And I'll soon be 85". Perhaps we are just pleased to have lived this long. .
Do you still buy clothes, and things, from catalogues?
I don’t mind the rain at all and especially love the sound of falling rain when I’m cosy inside. I had a caravan and falling rain on the roof was a particular pleasure.
The cottage I used to live in had a conservatory added but it was home made. We had it redone professionally as I was worried the perspex roof would fall in.
Do you avoid going out when it's raining if you don't have to?
Not now, the garden is very small and while I like gardening I'm not that much of an enthusiast. There was one in our last garden which had been home-made by the previous owners who used up the old windows when they had double glazing installed. Quite charming but a little ramshackle and in time it had to be knocked down before it fell down. A shame, really because it was unique.
Has anyone else 'inherited' something home-made from a previous owner?
I have quite a few houseplants again now, My current favourite is a cheese plant which seems to be thriving. We had one when we first got married in the 70’s and it reminds me of that.
Do you buy yourself fresh flowers on a regular basis? I do, I love to have a nice vase of flowers on my table.
Thanks for the warning. I didn’t click on the link just in case. The strangest thing is that what arrived at 2pm is something I had ordered from Sportstech, which was due to arrive on the 7th of June.
Yes, I went to Glastonbury three times in the early 90’s with my best mate. Absolutely amazing and bonkers experience. Loved it. Brilliant fun. I can’t imagine going now - it would be my worst nightmare! I’ve been to Reading too, nowhere near as good.
Today is the day I talk to my therapist. Have you ever had talking therapy or counselling?
Whinging neighbours! I have one that I simply dont open the door to.
Have you ever been to a music festival - the kind where you stay over?
I never have. Im not the camping type and the idea of trekking through the mud and queueing for the portaloo never did appeal to me even as a young woman.
I rarely pay any attention to the weather forecast unless I want to use the garden for a photo shoot.
Does it really annoy you when you have a tradesperson scheduled and they dont turn up?
I find it very stressful expecting anyone and cant settle to do anything complicated. Im always worried that Ill miss them if I have the TV or music on. So its a completely wasted day when they dont show up. Especially when they come up with some bullsh*t excuse that they knocked and there was no one home. I have cctv so I know when they lie.
Not when it's too hot. Low twenties is nice for me. When it starts heading up towards the thirties I detest it. And I've had 3 skin cancers, so I'm careful.
Does the weather forecast ever annoy you? Sun was forecast so I stripped the bed, added lots of towels and things for a hot wash. Was just hanging it all out when there was a huge thundery shower. Shall I leave it out or not?
