Can you spend money easily or do you think twice before buying anything?

I live alone but no more nervous at night than any other time. I keep very upredictable hours so there is always a light on. I also have a full security system and cctv.

If you could have any kind of pet - cost of the pet or housing it being no object - what would you choose?

I would have about a dozen tortoises of the kind that dont hibernate. They would be quite expensive to keep over winter and purchase but I love them.

Are you ever nervous at night? Especially those of you who live alone?

Seems so. Jobs, house and garden in the morning. Then writing after lunch, unless it is nice out ,then a walk to the sea.

Do you buy your DH or OH a birthday cake?

I do worry a little about covid if I get one of those symptoms but then put it out of my mind.

Do you have a set routine each day?

I have done the same. Set mine as I thought for 7am and wondered what the ringing noise was at 7 that evening.

I have a sore throat today. Do you always think 'covid' if you have any of the symptoms?

Baileys Chocolate Luxe, Woods Navy Rum or half a pint of Stella. I drink so rarely that the supermarket “Irish Cream” drinks go off and consolidate in the bottle.

Have you ever made a stupid mistake with an alarm clock. Set mine for 6.30 but forgot to change it to am!

I like dry white wine and g and t.

My DD initially trained as a hairdresser before her present job, so she sometimes gives me a little trim.

I never wanted children. If I had a son I would call him Yves and a daughter Perdita.

Do you ever trim your own hair or get a friend/relative to do it rather than going to the hairdresser?

My hair is waist length and has never been cut for years. Every so often I get my nephew to chop off the split ends.

I went into Sainsburys last week for a few food essentials & came out with a set of Habitat bedding and two cushions!!

Given the choice would you opt to go out for a champagne breakfast or an afternoon tea.

Oh yes, Maths. The school wouldn't even let me sit the O level exam as I was so useless at it. I still struggle with numbers.

(sorry to highjack this thread, but to those of you who showed an interest yesterday, baby girl, River, was born at about 1am last night. Mother and baby doing well. So I am now a step great grandmother and very happy.)

I've read very few SF books as it's not really my thing - I have a real blind spot for science and maths but I adore art, poetry and classic literature.

Do you have any blind spots? Subjects which you just can't understand?

I enjoyed entertaining when I was younger. Now I just cant be bothered with all the hooha. I dont mind having the odd person around for an hour or two but to be truthful I am glad to see the back of them. It has to be arranged beforehand. I never invite neighbours or casual callers in.

Do you ever watch SF films or read SF books?

I got hooked when I was about 14 (1958) with the Edgar Rice Burroughs "John Carter on Mars" series. The local librarian told me that very few "young ladies" read SF.

Countryside, for sure. I’ve got beaches all round me .

What a gorgeous day it’s been- had a couple of neighbours over for drinks and snacks . I am shattered and to think I have in the past, hosted and cooked for over 40 guests!!!! Do you find entertaining really tiring?

My happy place is eating fish and chips and drinking a Bacardi and Coke with my DH on Lymington Quay when we are in the New Forest on hols.
