Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

biglouis Thu 15-Sept-22 23:05:58

The Easter Hymn from the opera Cavalliera Rusticana!

Age 16 I was put on the spot in an interview when I had said I was in the school choir and asked what type of songs we sang. The intetviewer asked me to sing a few bars! He went on to suggest a musical career for me.

Is there anything you would queue 9 hours for?

Me - a winning lottery ticket, to be young again, or to have my mobility back

hollysteers Thu 15-Sept-22 20:43:09

Hollyhocks. I love cottage flowers.

You will receive £1000,000 for singing an entire song, no mistakes, from memory unexpectedly on the spot. What song do you sing?
(Habanera)

Mollygo Thu 15-Sept-22 15:53:59

Yes definitely. I’d got used to standing in the garden in PJs around 07am watching our dog. Now it’s a dressing gown job, or even a get dressed job first.

My neighbour has huge clumps of lovely Michaelmas daisies flowering in his garden at the moment.
Which flowers do you notice most?

AGAA4 Thu 15-Sept-22 15:48:49

I have just one table lamp in my living room.

Are you finding the mornings to be chilly now?

MrsKen33 Thu 15-Sept-22 14:40:31

At the moment little silver hoop sleeper earrings and three silver rings on my right hand. Only the earrings get changed.

Do you have over head lights in your living room, or table lamps ? We have one standard lamp and three large table lamps We rarely use the ceiling light

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 15-Sept-22 11:40:39

Not yet as it's not quite cold enough but I feel it won't be long.

Are you wearing any jewellery apart from wedding rings?

henetha Thu 15-Sept-22 10:51:23

Pink crumpet!

I'm very friendly with the neighbour on one side, less so with those on the other side. But never fallen out with them.

Have you started wearing bed socks at night this autumn yet?
I have because I find I get less cramp if I wear socks in bed.

ginny Thu 15-Sept-22 09:43:42

Navy blue porridge !

We have very good neighbours and try to be the same.
What are your neighbours like ?

FannyCornforth Thu 15-Sept-22 07:53:48

Claret Noodles!

And yet again smile

Mollygo Thu 15-Sept-22 07:43:49

Black porridge!

And again please.

MrsKen33 Thu 15-Sept-22 05:38:43

White mint

Again please

My avid royalist friend asked a couple of months ago if I would be interested in going to a lying in state as they had been to the Queen Mothers and I vaguely expressed interest.
I’m pleased to say I haven’t heard from him!

Your rock band name is the colour of your underwear plus the last thing you ate?
(Pink pork pie?)

biglouis Wed 14-Sept-22 16:41:13

Probably do a photo shoot for my business but too much sun can be a problem.

Do you have any plans to go to London and queue?

I would not go even if I was mobile. I hate crowded events and you see more on TV. BBC are streaming the lying in state for the entire 4 days. for the benefit of those who cant travel.

ginny Wed 14-Sept-22 12:10:22

There was one in our town . I did not attend as I was away. I doubt I would have attended anyway.

Today is unexpectedly sunny here in N. Bucks. I have been to the park with DGS. What would you do with an unexpected sunny day?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 14-Sept-22 09:35:57

I've signed one at our local church.

I attended a local Ceremony of Proclamation which was a short walk/bus ride away. Did you have one locally, and were you able to go?

Mollygo Tue 13-Sept-22 18:01:37

I think our freedom is being eroded in so many ways and not necessarily by the government. e.g freedom to travel - eroded by need to do our bit towards protecting the planet and some other freedoms creeping insidiously in - like the rights of females being eroded.

Is there a book of condolence near you, and have you signed one?

AGAA4 Tue 13-Sept-22 16:09:08

I am not sure what happened with this arrest. I agree that we should be allowed to protest peacefully.

Do you feel that our freedom is being eroded by this government?

biglouis Tue 13-Sept-22 15:01:55

No fear! I have always hated sport. I dont watch it either (apart from ice dance).

Do you think the police are heavy handed at arresting people protesting against the monarchy at this time?

I think they should just move them on unless the refuse to go and are creating a disturbance. People have a right to peacefully protest but now is probably not a good time.

ginny Mon 12-Sept-22 18:47:24

Yes, every day something nice happens. I make a point of thinking over my day and even if it is something like a smile from a stranger or seeing a child skipping down the street without a care in the world I count it as a nice experience.

I have never been a sporty person,
Do you play any sports ?

Billybob4491 Mon 12-Sept-22 18:23:36

Married name every time!

Did anything nice happen to you today?

hollysteers Mon 12-Sept-22 17:51:38

I’m with the idea of a slimmed down royal family in every way, palaces, Duchy lands, houses, jewels etc. I think I would be rather ruthless!

If married, do you like your married surname or prefer your maiden name?

AGAA4 Mon 12-Sept-22 16:49:42

biglouis we have the recycling done every week and the other bins once a fortnight.
henetha no I don't ride a bike now. The roads are too busy.

Do you think there are too many titles in the Royal Family now?

henetha Mon 12-Sept-22 12:11:58

That was the question at the start of this thread. But we have moved on to 17 pages since then. So we respond to the question set by the previous poster.
Occasionally posts overlap, as happened just now with biglouis and I posting at almost the same time.

ExDancer Mon 12-Sept-22 12:07:44

AM I GOING CRAZY?
Surely the title of this thread was

SachaMac’s question was
‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

henetha Mon 12-Sept-22 12:02:41

Dan-the-Man has cut mine every few weeks, and definitely less than other summers.

Do you still ride a bike? I rode for years and wish I still did really.
