Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

FannyCornforth Fri 04-Nov-22 05:08:22

Hello Dolly
I used to find Bach Rescue Remedy (the Night time one) really good for the over active mind thing. I don’t know how on Earth it works, but it really did.

Same question please

DollyD Fri 04-Nov-22 04:28:23

I've just made some warm milk, in the hope it will help me to drop off to sleep again. Woke at 3am and mind started whirring.

What do others do to get back to sleep?

FannyCornforth Fri 04-Nov-22 03:46:12

Antiquated gas central heating.
Our boiler is a miracle of engineering. How it’s still going is beyond me.
We’ve been meaning to replace it since we moved here 23 years ago.
It hasn’t been done as I hate upheaval. Its the reason why we have never moved.
It’s my own fault sad
Sorry -getting very self pitying in the wee small hours!

Will the next poster be Ken, I wonder? 🤔
What exactly are you up to at the moment?

henetha Thu 03-Nov-22 23:32:18

Yes we did. Like yours, it was the only heat in the house. How did we cope back then?
What heating do you have now?

biglouis Thu 03-Nov-22 22:44:03

No because I have mobility issues.

Did you have a coal fire in your parents house?

We used to huddle around it in cold weather. It was the only heated room.

ginny Thu 03-Nov-22 20:03:30

Month !!

ginny Thu 03-Nov-22 20:02:36

That should read 18 moth not 28 month.

ginny Thu 03-Nov-22 20:01:52

Not much but I do like the weeks just before and after Christmas and the day itself. Otherwise I look forward to the spring and Summer.

A walk that normally would take around ten minutes took over half an hour this afternoon as I had 28 month old DGS in tow. I had plenty of time and very much enjoyed his joy in every stick, leaf, cobweb and puddle .
Would /do you enjoy this sort of walk ?

hollysteers Thu 03-Nov-22 19:24:20

I haven’t been on a coach holiday abroad, but I take regular coach day trips (next one on Monday) as although I drive, I don’t enjoy it. Have also had 2 or 3 night breaks by coach, very good.

What do you like about winter?

crazyH Thu 03-Nov-22 17:48:51

Same question

crazyH Thu 03-Nov-22 17:47:46

MrsK - What’s “dire” about a coach holiday? Do you mean going to a European destination by coach? Yes, that would be very tedious for me, but I wouldn’t mind a coach holiday in the UK.
I haven’t been on a Turkey and Tinsel holiday, although I have heard of it. Some people enjoy it.

MrsKen33 Thu 03-Nov-22 17:13:53

No we don’t have a dog and only once had one years ago.

Do you go on coach holidays.? . Friend of mine go on ‘Turkey and Tinsel’ breaks. Sounds dire to me. What are your thoughts ?

DollyD Thu 03-Nov-22 17:05:26

I am absolutely hopeless at decorating, I get more on myself than the walls. I’ve found a young lady decorator, who has just painted all the way through.
Have you a dog and breed what is it?

AGAA4 Thu 03-Nov-22 16:36:51

Sorry x post. I would like to re-carpet everywhere but it will have to wait.

Do you do your own decorating?

AGAA4 Thu 03-Nov-22 16:34:48

Yes I do have some roof space. I intended to have it boarded out and a loft ladder installed but it's still on the long to do list.

Do you do your own decorating?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 03-Nov-22 16:32:08

I have an attic, but it needs the strength of ten men to open the hatch, so I never use it.

If there was one improvement which you'd magically like to appear at your house, what would it be? Sadly, I have a list.

henetha Thu 03-Nov-22 10:16:51

No, I don't really. I used to have an office here but changed it into a spare bedroom, after buying a laptop instead of a desktop pc.

Do you have an attic or roof space? Do you use it? My last house had a huge attic which was boarded out for storage. But it's very small here.

biglouis Wed 02-Nov-22 21:14:58

Id employ a cleaner (which I do) and get ready meals delivered. I hate both cooking and cleaning.

Do you have a special room/place in you house for your hobby/work or pastime?

I have an office downstairs and one of the bedroom is stock room/packing station for my business so I claim for both from the taxman.

hollysteers Wed 02-Nov-22 20:48:55

No never and I’m sure I never will! (Unlike the late Queen, who apparently always had a jigsaw on the go)
Answer to HowVeryDareYou upthread: I let my hair dry naturally then use straighteners for a little shape.

If you had to either cook or clean all day, which would you choose?

SachaMac Wed 02-Nov-22 18:05:09

Yes, I eat more soups & casseroles. I like a bit of comfort food in the cold damp weather.

Do you do ever do jigsaws in the winter?

AGAA4 Wed 02-Nov-22 16:33:47

I have a walk in shower.

Do you change diet a little in the cold weather. Maybe soup instead of salad?

MrsKen33 Wed 02-Nov-22 15:18:29

Since we are in Wales too, very wet and windy. So watching tv by the fire

What do you hate most? Sun, wind, snow, rain ?

crazyH Wed 02-Nov-22 14:04:07

No, not yet. Actually I haven’t seen them around.

Miserable day here in Wales. So, not going far. Will probably catch up with long-overdue clearing the toy box and taking (tomorrow) the outgrown toys to the charity shop. What’s the weather like where you are and what are your plans for the afternoon?

HowVeryDareYou Wed 02-Nov-22 13:58:30

I bought some very nice shampoo bars from The Body Shop, and I find the lather good and my hair was soft afterwards.

Do you use straighteners/curling tongs/anything similar? My hair is extremely curly (like a perm) but I leave it.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 02-Nov-22 12:42:23

I have a shower screen.

Have you used shampoo bars yet?
