Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

The Life and Works Of Eric Clapton

I had the privilege of seeing the original Peter Blake art works of the 24 Nights EC album cover in Eric’s London home.
They were scattered around propped up on sofas for him to choose from.

What is your favourite music genre?

MrsKen33 Sat 29-Oct-22 04:53:49

Probably something art based. Peter Blake ?

Bit early so same question please

FannyCornforth Sat 29-Oct-22 04:31:24

I don’t really like any. I like the ‘quiz’ element, but I don’t like the time wasting bits; chatting to the contestants and the daft gimmicks.
My favourite used to be 15 to 1 with William G Stewart.

What would your specialist subject on Mastermind be?
Mine would be the life and times of Steve Allen (extremely annoying LBC presenter).
I think that I know more about him than he does.

crazyH Fri 28-Oct-22 18:48:40

Ronnie Corbett - I just have to look at him, especially on that oversized chair !!!
Which is your favourite TV game show apart from ‘Who wants to be ,……..’ . Mine is Catchphrase, by the brilliant Stephen Mulhern

hollysteers Fri 28-Oct-22 18:30:17

I don’t like Dawn French either Fanny and can’t explain why…

Comedian who really makes you cry with laughter? (Benny Hill, Freddie Starr)

biglouis Fri 28-Oct-22 16:25:11

Will answer same question. The bath because its too much for me to pull myself up and down with my arthritis. Only use showers.

When was the last time you visited a swimming baths?

Ive not been since I was a 10. Never did learn to swim.

FannyCornforth Fri 28-Oct-22 15:35:21

I think house wise we are polar opposites Ken!
I’m the middle aged woman who lives in a ?.
Thankfully. I haven’t ‘got so many children’.
Something I don’t use… ?
A hairdryer. I let it dry naturally.
Oh, and the dishwasher. It’s full of plastic, Tupperware type stuff.

Comedian that you don’t like.
(Excluding Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle - they are a given.)
I don’t like Dawn French.
She has amazing hair though…

MrsKen33 Fri 28-Oct-22 14:43:06

Three walk in showers and one bath which is rarely used.

Do you have anything in your house which you don’t use ?

HowVeryDareYou Fri 28-Oct-22 14:34:50

Have you got a bath or shower? Or both? We've got a shower over the bath (very rarely actually have a bath)

HowVeryDareYou Fri 28-Oct-22 14:33:44

I tend to stick to what I know, mainly because Him Indoors is so unadventurous. On the occasions when I've cooked something we haven't had before, he hasn't liked it [grin

crazyH Fri 28-Oct-22 14:27:36

I used to watch Emmerdale and Corrie regularly. These days I watch a lot of Documentaries on Netflix and YouTube. I’m more into reality than fiction. There are some fascinating facts.

Are you a ‘stick to what you know’ cook, or do you troll through the Internet, for new recipes? In my case, I stick to what I know …

FannyCornforth Fri 28-Oct-22 13:23:56

Hello AGA, I haven’t seen you for a while ?

Best: cosiness and tradition, decorations and lights

Worst: the adverts.
It used to be the local pub being full of people who never usually go there; cluttering up the place and being stupid (aka amateurs), but I haven’t been to the pub for yonks

Do you watch any soaps?
I used to love Brookside, and 80s Corrie.
Don’t watch anything like that now.
I occasionally try to get into The Archers, and then forget to listen to it. Sorry, I’m rambling!

AGAA4 Fri 28-Oct-22 12:08:10

No. It will be as expensive as usual.

What is the best thing for you about Christmas and the worst?

biglouis Fri 28-Oct-22 11:27:31

Im still wearing lightweight summer things but I just unpacked my big furry poncho and fleecy blanket for when they are needed.

Have you cut down at all on spending for this coming holiday? Cards. gifts. food?

I dont celebrate it.

henetha Fri 28-Oct-22 10:37:40

Yes, just once. In 2013 I went to Malta with 13 relatives and in-laws. I got talked into it and sort of dreaded it. But to my surprise I loved it and wish I could do it again. The hotel put on a wonderful Christmas Day.

Are you wearing winter woollies yet? I am about to unpack my suitcase with all my jumpers and fleecy things in. Do you do this, pack things away each season?

SachaMac Fri 28-Oct-22 09:49:42

I’ve always loved the build up as much as the day itself. Before I retired I worked in a special school and we really went to town at Christmas. I will be spending it with my DC & GC, my DH died last year so for me Christmas won’t be the same anymore.

Have you ever been abroad on holiday at Christmas and did you enjoy it? My sister & her DH did a few years ago, the total chaos at the airports put them off doing it again.

FannyCornforth Fri 28-Oct-22 07:21:18

Christmas starts in mid November for me. It’s more of a season than a day. I never actually do anything much on the day itself. But I love all of the cosiness and traditions.
We used to go to Whitby for Christmas for years, but it’s too hilly for us now, and I can’t risk Mr FC getting too cold either.

What about you?

MrsKen33 Fri 28-Oct-22 05:39:38

I once had one about the chef Gary Rhodes. I can remember it to this day.

Any plans made yet for Christmas. Staying home, Caribbean cruise ?

FannyCornforth Fri 28-Oct-22 04:46:17

I’ve no real opinions on grand parenting. Everyone has different relationships with their individual family members, so it’s hard to comment on generalities

Have you ever had a saucy / erotic / rude dream about someone entirely inappropriate or random?
I often have them.
Last weekend it was Boris Johnson, much to my horror ?

biglouis Fri 28-Oct-22 00:01:55

I would keep it well quiet except for the nephew who helps me. I would treat him.

Do you think grandparents should help out regularly with childcare or only in emergencies?

I have no kids so does not apply. However I dont think you should expect grandparents to do this as general rule. Its up to them.

Mollygo Thu 27-Oct-22 23:37:53

Same question. If you would tell anyone, who would it be?

Mollygo Thu 27-Oct-22 23:15:35

No! Absolutely not. But it’s so unlikely.

Prentice Thu 27-Oct-22 22:16:31

The dog

Would you ‘go public’ if you had a big win on the lottery?

HowVeryDareYou Thu 27-Oct-22 22:06:40

1. The pair of leather settees we bought last September
2. The solid oak dining table.
3. The huge (5ft x 4ft) mirror in the lounge.

If yu could only save one thing from a house fire/flood, what would it be? (Mine would be our old cat)

SachaMac Thu 27-Oct-22 21:33:00

Yes similar for me, lunches out, occasional evening meal out, trips to the cinema etc. got to have things to look forward to and get out of the house.

If you were moving away & could only take 3 items of your furniture with you, old or new, what would you take?
