Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊

Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.

Which actress is playing the part of you?

MrsKen33 Thu 09-Feb-23 16:20:51

Best starter I have had recently was avocado, paw-paw and prawns in a tarragon mayonnaise. So I would say starter for preference.

Same question please

SachaMac Thu 09-Feb-23 14:43:54

For me too a starter of prawn cocktail served in half an avocado (70’s style) A succulent medium fillet steak with home made chips and mushrooms followed by a slice of lemon tart. I’d more than likely feel rather sick eating all that but I’d give it a go.

Do you prefer a starter or a dessert and what would you choose.

biglouis Thu 09-Feb-23 12:11:57

A Chinese banquet.

Same question

henetha Thu 09-Feb-23 11:11:53

Prawn cocktail, then roast lamb and all the trimmings, then Eton Mess. Mmmmmmm.

Same question.....

AGAA4 Thu 09-Feb-23 11:10:12

No. If I feel like a ready meal I usually have the M and S ones.

If someone would bring you your evening meal what would you like it to be?

Mollygo Thu 09-Feb-23 08:29:36

Yes though I cancelled after a few weeks. The recipes were mostly tasty, though the ingredients were sometimes very short date. It’s a subscription and you have to choose your menus every week, not just expect the same meals. The week I forgot to say which meals we wanted they just sent vegetarian options. Expensive just for vegetables and sauce.
I still use the menu sheets for some dishes that we did like.

Has anyone tried Gousto meals?

ginny Wed 08-Feb-23 20:06:18

I used to have hi lights in my dull blonde hair. About 6 years ago I allowed it to go naturally grey. Sometimes I have a pink wash on it now.

We sometimes have a delivery from Hello Fresh.
Have you ever tried any of the recipe meal options?

NotAGran55 Wed 08-Feb-23 19:08:13

I have naturally curly hair so no need to perm it.

Have you ever dyed your hair?
I’ve got auburn hair and had lowlights a few times in my 30’s to enhance the red but nothing since. I’ve got a few grey hairs now that don’t bother me.

fancythat Wed 08-Feb-23 17:48:57

Biro. Fountain pens I used to find messy.

Did you ever have your hair permed?

MrsKen33 Wed 08-Feb-23 17:43:25

Yes, often in birthday cards and as thank yous.

Would you use a fountain pen or a biro for a letter, as above ?

SachaMac Wed 08-Feb-23 17:34:43

Yes I still have a landline, the only person that tends to call me on it is my mum or crank callers. I rarely use it to make a call but like to have it as a back up.

Do you ever send any handwritten letters?

HowVeryDareYou Wed 08-Feb-23 15:12:18

Our broadband (and landline) are with Virgin Media and we've never had a problem. There are 3 of us using the broadband.

Have you still got a landline? I prefer using that to using my mobile.

biglouis Wed 08-Feb-23 14:56:03

My neighbour had some snowdrops in her garden a couple of weeks ago. I have not got any.

Does your broadband go down often or very rarely?

I am with BT business and it rarely goes down and mostly at obscure morning hours - 2-4 am.

AGAA4 Wed 08-Feb-23 08:54:44

My only name change was by marriage.

Have you seen any spring flowers out yet?

biglouis Tue 07-Feb-23 14:09:01

I would love to have learned to play an instrument properly but I never got further than 3 chords on a guitar! I'm also sorry now I never learned to drive. However I used to have very bad panic attacks and it would probably not have been a good idea.

Have you ever used a different name or changed your name other than by marriage?

When I divorced I just picked a surname I liked the sound of (it belonged to some of my French relatives) and now use that. Passport, banking etc are now all in that name.

SachaMac Tue 07-Feb-23 09:12:18

No just a spa for a weekend and that was very relaxing. I love the sound of the Art retreat, enjoy.

Is there a hobby, sport etc you would love to have done but never really had the chance. I would love to have had horse riding lessons I occasionally take my GD to her lessons and think how lucky she is. My parents couldn’t really have afforded it.

ginny Tue 07-Feb-23 07:56:26

I only enjoyed gymnastics at school otherwise hated sorts lessons.

I have just booked an art/ well being retreat for myself. Have you ever done similar ?

MrsKen33 Tue 07-Feb-23 05:24:58

Hated most sports at school especially athletics. I was in the hockey team which I quite enjoyed. Later in my late 20s I was in a local netball team. We were useless but it was good fun.

Same question please

henetha Mon 06-Feb-23 22:18:14

I usually have lots of days like that
just chilling out and slobbing around, but my granddaughter is on a visit here from Ireland at present so it's all go....and wonderful.

Were you good at sports at school? And did you continue with any sport after leaving school or college?

crazyH Mon 06-Feb-23 20:42:09

I will first answer MrsKen33’s question.
No, I did not watch Happy Valley but all my family did.

And to answer Sachamac’s question. I would like to go back to Marrakesh to absorb more of the culture. One week was too short.
Do you enjoy having a day to yourself, just to chill out, relax and slob around basically. I love days like today - did absolutely nothing. Just checked if my Premium Bond Win had gone into my A/C and was disappointed it didn’t. Will check tomorrow.

SachaMac Mon 06-Feb-23 20:19:51

I’m with you NotAGran55 I had some fabulous city breaks with my DH, amongst my favourites were Budapest, Istanbul & Hong Kong. I don’t particularly enjoy sitting around a pool or on a beach in the hot sun all day. I do like to relax a little but love to get out and about & see some of the culture and scenery.

Is there a city either in the UK or abroad that you would like to return to for a break?

NotAGran55 Mon 06-Feb-23 16:04:58

I’m happy with blue skies and cold weather as you can always dress to enjoy it. I don’t like drizzly days when it’s not worth using an umbrella and my hair goes bonkers.

What type of holidays do you prefer?

I love city breaks mainly, at any time of the year, sightseeing , mooching and eating out.
My worst nightmare would be a hot all inclusive resort that you never leave.

MrsKen33 Mon 06-Feb-23 16:03:48

I prefer warm sunny weather but will go with this as a relief from rain. ,,

Did you watch Happy Valley?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 06-Feb-23 09:47:12

The sunshine cheers me up but I dislike frost.

Same question again please.

AGAA4 Mon 06-Feb-23 08:58:32

SachaMac Time does go by so quickly even though I retired 10 years ago and don't have as much to do.

NotAGran55 I don't have the patience for jigsaw puzzles but I do enjoy word or number puzzles.

Do you like this cold sunny weather?
