Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊

Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.

Which actress is playing the part of you?

SachaMac Thu 02-Feb-23 22:52:42

Unfortunately yes, I tend to feed my emotions, more so as I’ve got older, especially if I am anxious about something. I rarely go the opposite way and go off my food.

Do you ever order a takeaway and if so what do you prefer. It’s rare I do now but it tends to be fish and chips when the GC come to stay as that’s their favourite.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 02-Feb-23 16:14:53

I try to do something constructive and creative if I can so that the feeling of achievement makes me feel better, but sometimes only an edible treat will do, such as a packet of crisps or a cake. That makes me an emotional eater.

Are you an emotional eater?

AGAA4 Thu 02-Feb-23 13:43:55

I use Tesco for convenience and buy some luxuries from m n s.

What do you treat yourself with if you have a bad day?

MrsKen33 Thu 02-Feb-23 11:20:32

We alternate. We can get to a Morrisons, Tesco , Aldi or Lidl with a twenty minute drive. Sainsbury’s deliver and Waitrose is far away in Cardiff.

Which is your favourite supermarket ?

henetha Thu 02-Feb-23 10:01:52

Reading works for me. I usually sleep well but then for no particular have a dreadful night now and then. So it's back to the library book or Kindle.

Do you always go to the same supermarket? (or have home deliveries from the same one? )
Or do you have favourite stuff in various ones? So shop around.

biglouis Thu 02-Feb-23 00:20:11

Not that I know of, we were all just ordinary folks.

If you wake up in the night what's your strategy for getting back to sleep?

I often wake up and cant get back so I have a quick shower and that relaxes me. Usually works.

DH does, and has for years. We use Ancestry .com

Yes Fanny I am left handed, left footed and strangely right eyed.

Do you have anyone famous in your family? In the past or now?

SachaMac Wed 01-Feb-23 17:37:58

Yes on a day out walking I jumped off an old Railway Platform at Millersdale in the Peak District to save myself getting up and walking right around. We’d just sat there on the edge having our picnic. Common sense told me not to do it but it didn't seem far so I leapt off, my DH had warned me not to. I ended up falling badly & had to go to the local hospital in agony with what turned out to be a badly sprained ankle. The worse thing is my ankle still isn’t the same nearly four years on!! Lesson learned!!

Do you research your family tree and if so do you use an ancestry type website?

I was trudging this morning after hurting my leg yesterday while I was enjoying a sunny walk. People did seem more glum today.

Have you ever hurt yourself by attempting something you knew may not be good for you?

Mollygo Wed 01-Feb-23 10:24:29

Neighbours have loads of snow drops poking through the lawn and when I walk the dog, some gardens have primroses peeking through. I haven’t seen crocuses yet.

Two days of fine sunny weather meant lots more people walking briskly up and down the hill, all smiling and chatting happily. This morning people are back to trudging up and down the hill.
Are there brisk walkers or trudgers near you this morning?

TillyTrotter Wed 01-Feb-23 08:16:06

No. People on FB seem to have hundreds of friends. If that were me and I wanted to meet them all I would never get any housework done.

Do you see snowdrops and crocus in your garden yet?

FannyCornforth Wed 01-Feb-23 06:52:35

MrsKen are you left handed? I bet you are

FannyCornforth Wed 01-Feb-23 06:50:43

I’m not on FB. It scares me. I don’t do Twitter either.
I used to be on MN a lot before I joined GN, I rarely look at it now.
I read Reddit a lot. There’s so much stuff on there.
I’m on Nextdoor which is absolutely rubbish but I’ve made a couple of friends on there.
One is a lady who is a therapist who specialises in anxiety.
We are going to meet soon. I’m going to help her with her drawing, and she’s going to try to help me with my anxiety.
Win win!

Have you ever met anyone in real life that you met online?
If not, would you want to?

NotAGran55 Wed 01-Feb-23 06:21:09

I use Facebook just to be a member of a couple of hobby/interest groups and to be part of the village one.
I don’t post anything about myself etc or have ‘friends’

Same question please.

HowVeryDareYou Tue 31-Jan-23 19:25:17

I look at a few different things on YouTube, usually music or cooking - one of my favourites is Kay's Cooking, a Northern lady who tries out various recipes in her own kitchen. She's very pleasant, friendly and nice, but her cooking isn't great (it's certainly improved recently though)

Do you use Facebook or any other social media? I've got Facebook, and I also look at Mumsnet

SachaMac Tue 31-Jan-23 16:19:00

I’m right handed.

Do you follow anyone or watch any You Tube Chanel’s?

MrsKen33 Tue 31-Jan-23 15:40:27

No, my sister lives some distance away and has a husband with dementia.

Are you left or right handed?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 31-Jan-23 15:38:26

Small things - a chat with a lady at the bus stop, getting an item changed which was faulty, and a visit from my sister later on.

For those with siblings, do you see each other often?

AGAA4 Tue 31-Jan-23 15:33:48

Not now. I used to have pedicures every summer so my feet would look presentable in sandals.

What has made you feel good today or bad?

NotAGran55 Tue 31-Jan-23 14:13:58

I wash my hair every day as I like to be fresh and clean from top to bottom to start the day.

Do you give yourself manicures and pedicures?
I do despite not having nice hands, feet or nails.

crazyH Tue 31-Jan-23 12:44:35

Question : do you have dry or greasy hair ? Mine is greasy - have to wash it every other day - how about you? How often do you wash your hair?

crazyH Tue 31-Jan-23 12:40:16

I have 3 types of clothes.
1) Day wear - usually jeans/casual trousers and top, jumper or floaty summer top (depending on weather) -even if I’m shopping or meeting friends
2) Evening wear ( smart black trousers with a sparkly top ).
I don’t wear dresses at all, due to skinny legs
3). At home, usually joggers

MrsKen33 Tue 31-Jan-23 12:14:09

I don’t. Lounge around the house that is. I have a shower and get dressed about 8 then get into bed about 10 at night. No nightie unless it is cold. Busy most of the day.

Do you have ‘special’ clothes for going out, and ordinary for at home?

biglouis Tue 31-Jan-23 11:34:00

Knowing that I am not expecting any callers/parcels that day so I can safely get on with things, ignore the door bell or just turn it off!

What do you wear for lounging around the house?

I am a kaftan wearer because you can easily layer up underneath or on top if its chilly.

SachaMac Mon 30-Jan-23 17:38:43

Walking my dog on a cool crisp morning then coming in, kicking off my boots and sitting down with a nice cup of proper coffee (sometimes a biscuit)) by the fire.

Let’s go again with this question.
