Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊

Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.

Which actress is playing the part of you?

Mollygo Wed 04-Jan-23 13:53:45

I like historical novels and family sagas and stories involving some of the same characters, whether that’s like Cormoran Strike or a vaguely romantic series set in Texas.

Have you ever had kitchen unit doors replaced? Did it work?

biglouis Wed 04-Jan-23 13:45:35

I read late at night to send me off to sleep

What are your favorite subjects for reading?

I like science fiction, fantasy and non fictional biography and art history.

SachaMac Wed 04-Jan-23 13:41:21

My lounge first and foremost, I love just relaxing on my sofa with my dog, just watching a film with a candle glowing. My bedroom comes a close second, I love to get cosy in bed & read for an hour.

Do you read in the daytime or mainly at night. I tend to read in the evening before going to sleep.

I can't say that they were in the sales and I was warned that prices were going up - but what the hell, I fancied having two armchairs re-upholstered. When they've been returned I'll be off to town to order new curtains.

My sitting room is my little haven from the world. Do you consider any part of your home in the same way?

crazyH Wed 04-Jan-23 11:23:03

I remove the batteries and keep them in my little drawer, to be used again, in my little torch etc

Have you bought or is there something you had your eye on, for the January Sales ? I need a new freezer, but can’t see any bargains yet

henetha Wed 04-Jan-23 10:05:31

I'm trying to read all my Bill Bryson books again. I've started with his life of Shakespeare. It's fascinating.

I'm taking down all my decorations and Christmas lights today. The batteries are only half used. Do you keep them or discard them? (properly recycled, of course)

Juliet27 Wed 04-Jan-23 09:07:24

A very good reason Fanny

LRavenscroft Wed 04-Jan-23 08:04:41

Just started reading all the books I missed as a child: Tom's Midnight Garden, Charlotte's Web etc. Lovely trip down memory lane.

What sort of books do you like to read on cold winter days?

FannyCornforth Wed 04-Jan-23 08:03:27

I want to be nearer to my dad Juliet

Juliet27 Wed 04-Jan-23 07:56:25

Just wondering Fanny why you feel you need to move.

FannyCornforth Wed 04-Jan-23 07:38:55

No.

Have you made any Resolutions?
Mine is definitely to try to do more things for me.
Especially going to the Sketching Club, which I vowed to do months ago sad

biglouis Tue 03-Jan-23 12:49:26

Ive moved house 9 times if you count moving out of my parents house. 4 times in my native Liverpool and 5 since I came to Manchester. It has got a lot more stressful since I acquired more possessions!

Have you ever organized a house clearance?

I did in 1979 when my gran left me the contents but the house itself went to my two aunts. I had to get it cleared so they could put it on the market. It was a lot of hard work but taught me a lot about antique dealing. Before that I had been merely a collector but I then began seriously dealing.

FannyCornforth Tue 03-Jan-23 06:48:50

‘Morning Ken! One good thing is that MrC’s nephew is the owner of the best and biggest removal company here!
I’ve got sooo much stuff. Most of which I won’t/ can’t take with me.
I honestly think that I’ll have to get house clearance people in.
It’s so daunting

Yes, more house moving tales please

MrsKen33 Tue 03-Jan-23 06:45:15

Four times when the children were small, same area just bigger houses. Then we stayed put for 40 years. Moved five years ago to be near DD..
Get a good removal company in Fanny they will do it all for you.

Same question please.

FannyCornforth Tue 03-Jan-23 06:03:59

No idea, I can’t wear anything like that as I’d get too hot

How many times have you moved house?
I think that we need to move this year, but I’m absolutely terrified and dreading it.
Just the thought of it nearly gives me a panic attack

biglouis Mon 02-Jan-23 21:26:14

I have something called a "slanket" its a blanket qith sleeves that you can wear while sitting on the sofa. My nephew washed it and it came out fluffy from the dryer. I did brush it up a bit. So i expect the oodies will stay fluffy.

Anyone got any special tips for keeping these things fluffy?

Mollygo Mon 02-Jan-23 16:01:05

Yes biglouis I was given one for Christmas. It’s lovely and warm but I also have a long furry robe. My Oodie is warmer, but the other was fine, except the pockets my phone kept falling out if the pockets.
Anyone know how Oodies wash? Do they come out just as fluffy?

biglouis Mon 02-Jan-23 15:42:53

I kept seeing people raving about air fryers and asked my nephew if he would like one (since he supplies me with meals). We got him one of the big ones and hes very enthusiastic about it.

Has anyone got an oodie?

Ive got a long fleecy robe I bought a few years ago with a hood and big pockets. Serves the same purpose.

Mollygo Mon 02-Jan-23 12:52:36

Sorry MrsKen33 your post wasn’t showing.
Usually just a meal out, but last year we booked a cruise for our WA . . . and celebrated isolating in Germany!

Same question please.

Mollygo Mon 02-Jan-23 11:40:17

I’ve got a Tower air fryer on order after reading a recommendation on here.
I think the only thing I’ve recommended is fleecy bedding, and I’ve just bought some more in the sales-a super king-size duvet set and an undersheet £21.50 altogether, so near enough half price. Do I mind having snow and reindeer patterned covers on throughout the year? Not at that price!
Same question . . .

MrsKen33 Mon 02-Jan-23 11:31:29

Not necessarily bought something, but often try TV or book recommendations.

It’s our wedding anniversary today. Do you do anything special for yours ?

FannyCornforth Mon 02-Jan-23 05:06:37

😡 grrr

FannyCornforth Mon 02-Jan-23 05:05:43

Still not showing! angry

FannyCornforth Mon 02-Jan-23 05:04:58

Still not appearing confused
Question is: have you ever bought anything due to a recommendation on here?
Or recommended something to others?

🤞 it works this time
