Good Morning Thursday 4th June 2026
Vacuum cleaner recommendations - urgent 😄
I want to declutter, partner does not want to?
Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊
Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.
Which actress is playing the part of you?
Sorry forgot question.
Are you proficient on a computer?
‘Show Boat’ . I was ‘seven and cried buckets at the end. Also ‘The Red Shoes’ which gave me nightmares for weeks.
I like a variety of film genre, I recently enjoyed, Belfast, Elvis, Mrs Harris goes to Paris & Living. I like war films or Westerns (All Quiet on the Western Front was very good) I’m not keen on Horror but I’m quite happy re watching old favourites like Saturday Night Fever or Dirty Dancing, I used to love watching the old black & white Westerns and war films on a Sunday afternoon with my Dad. Loved Game of Thrones (have the boxed sets) and more recently Stranger Things.
What memorable films do you remember seeing at the Cinema when you were younger. For me it was Kes and Tarka the Otter.
I avoid so called action films because I find them boring. There is usually little story other than the gratuitous violence.
I like sci fi films, political and crime thrillers and fantasy such as Game of Thrones. Like a lot of documentaries.
What kinds do you like?
I love middle name and much prefer it to my first name. I have used it quite a lot on various occasions.
How do you react to violent films/series? Or do you avoid them like the plague?
I’m going to be a Debbie Downer I’m afraid.
I’m not a mother, and my own mother died when was 25 and it totally changed my life.
When I was a TA I prided myself on making sure all of the children made something really olovely to take home for their own mom (it was a really deprived area).
It was my connection with Mother’s Day, and I don’t even have that any more. Thinking about it, the whole thing was to do with children and not being a mother.
I’m glad it’s over for another year
tbh
(Wow. You weren’t expecting that, neither was I)
Do you have a middle name? Do you like it?
If not, choose one
My eldest son messaged me from a stag weekend to wish me a lovely day, and my youngest son arrived with flowers from them both.
He took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch and then onto the in-laws/grandparents for the afternoon.
Coincided with our wedding anniversary too. A lovey day.
Same question please
Yes, I started the day by visiting my mum then went out for a lovely lunch with my eldest daughter and her family then had a visit from my son this afternoon. My youngest DD has been working today but I saw her yesterday? I’ve had some lovely cards and gifts but the nicest things been spending time with them all. I feel blessed.
Same question again please.
We have been on some wonderful cruises since we retired. Everything done for us and wonderful places to visit.
Did you have a special Mothering Sunday?
I used to love caravan holidays. I still remember the calor gas smell and the two seater bikes my brother and I would ride around the camp. Need a bit more comfort these days.
What is your favourite type of holiday?
Never been a sleepwalker and dont know of any. I fell out of bed a few times when we used to go caravanning because the beds were so narrow.
Did you enjoy caravan holidays when you were a child?
They were the only ones my family could afford. 6 days on a caravan site in North Wales near LLandudno. I used to love the amusement arcades.
I often dream that my teeth are falling out. I also run into long dead relatives in my dreams and ask them where they’ve been all this time. I used to have night terrors when I’d sit bolt upright and scream but I seem to have grown out of them.
Have you or any members of your family been sleep walkers?
I have a lot of dreams where I find that I am somehow arguing or pleading my case. Others where I am lost or searching.
Apparently there is an inner mentoring process going on in terms of self-justification on a conscious level, any dream can give you the opportunity to organize your fears so you can make sure that going forward things are much better for you.
Same question please.
Just packing for an overnight stay. I am going to the theatre with my DD tomorrow so staying over with her.
Do you have weird dreams sometimes?
I look forward to my two soap operas, - Corrie and EEnders.
Then quizzes like Mastermind, Connect, University Challenge.
Any nature programmes with David Attenborough and Chris Packham. And various music programmes. I loved the Masked Singer.
Are you doing anything interesting today?
I don’t watch programmes like Love Island, Married at First Sight, Naked attraction etc. I do occasionally watch Goggle Box and the snippets they show of reality tv on there are more than enough!! I love a feel good film or a series like Happy Valley, Granchester or Vera. I’m watching the new series of Unforgotten and enjoying that, I love to sit with a cuppa and watch Father Brown in an afternoon too.
Same question again.
I've just got into Taskmaster and it's consistently entertaining (the swearing is bleeped out on afternoon repeats, if you find it unacceptable). The inventiveness of the whole team, from little Alex Horne who devised it and co-presents, and the contestants who take part is very entertaining. And, of course, who can resist our favourite tall man Greg Davies, with whom many of us are obsessed?
Are there any programmes you look forward to watching?
I never watch reality tv or those shows where one contestant is voted off each week. Quite enjoy Pointless, Only connect, Mastermind and University Challenge. Mostly I watch films and series. Last one I enjoyed was Bridgerton. But only I think because I watched it with my aged spinster aunt who asked the most insightful questions all the way through.
Same question please as I can’t think of one so early in the morning
Last tv show I really enjoyed, hmmm, there's actually been a few. 'When' I get to watch them!
I like things like CSI, NCIS etc but at the moment I'm enjoying 'Outer Banks', as is my eldest granddaughter and I have to stop myself talking about it with her as she hasn't caught up to me!
It's totally far-fetched, but still good, clean fun!!
Now then, along the same sort of thread, do you prefer real life tv, those (imo stupid) shows like Love Island or Celebrity (or ordinary people) Jungle shows, or a nice series/film to get totally immersed in?
Sacha that would have annoyed me too! I would have made a big fuss about it, grumbling at every opportunity!
I hate badly organised things
I rarely go out to eat, and I can’t remember ever complaining.
If I do complain about anything it has to be for something quite major.
When I do go out to eat it’s usually with MrC, my dad and his wife.
My dad would rather stick pins in his eyes than complain about anything, whereas complaining about service is almost a religion to his wife, so it’s always a bit of a mine field.
What was the last TV show that you really enjoyed?
I found a comedy series that’s about 6 years old on Sky.
It’s called Rovers and it about a minor league football clubs fans.
It’s all set in the club house.
I absolutely loved it, I’ve watched it three times already.
Sadly it’s only 6 short episodes.
Craig Cash, Sue Johnson and Diane Morgan are in it.
I had a moan about the craft group this week, 27 people were squashed into a room that’s only really big enough for 15 to 20 max as people who should have booked a place just turned up and weren’t told it was full. A friend and I had booked our places the week before but ended up on the rickety emergency chairs on the edge of the room working on a cluttered worktop with hardly any equipment as there was no room around the main table. We were told we would be doing decoupage on a vintage jar but were handed an empty coffee jar each because they had run out of the decent ones!! May sound petty but when you’re paying good money you expect it to be an enjoyable & worthwhile experience. Sorry, rant over.
Have you had cause to complain about the food in a restaurant on many occasions?
In my business I try to give my customers good service but some of them are too lazy to do anything for themselves. I provide them with a tracking number and a URL where they can look it up and track the progress of their purchase. There are the few lazy ones who email asking me to "check" the package as it hasnt moved for 2 days (its probably with customs). I have to tell them (nicely) that I dont have a magic wand and that I only have access to publicly available information which they can see for themselves by making a little effort.
Same question.
I went to buy tickets at the station for the next train home. The woman in the ticket office kept looking down while I waited. When she looked up she glared at me for a minute then said "Yes!". I asked politely for the ticket. She shoved it over the counter continuing to glare without a word spoken.
I thanked her as I wasn't going to behave as badly as she had but I was annoyed.
Same question please.
I don’ t usually have arguments. But at the moment DH is urging me to get a new laptop as mine is on its last legs. I am resisting , I don’t know why really. Probably the cost. But I know he is right and will win. But I can’t resist resisting.
I think the only thing that makes me really cross is bad service and being patronised. Has one of these affected you lately. ?
