Story - One Sentence at a Time 📚

They decided to hitch hike.

Feeling the chill, not just in the air but in the atmosphere. Being rejected, even by a taxi driver was more than they could take . . .

The taxi driver slowed to pick them up and then , his face
froze in horror and he drove off very quickly leaving them ...

Which was bad enough but the came off the false eye lashes, nail extensions and the fake boobs.

Mason removed his blonde wig revealing a shiny bald head.

I think he’s trying to trap me, said Mason, he’s hoping my hair will get caught in the trap!

‘My neighbour has put rat traps in every hedge, throughout the whole area’, said Mason, as he adjusted his long blonde wig.

But who would put a rat trap in the hedgerow?

Could she have been caught in the rat trap?

“Better look for that dratted cat” said Mason.

"Im not leaving my cat behind" he moaned. "Hes a pedigree and I paid £300 for him. Help me get him out of this bush will you?" And he gave her an expectant look.

Enid began to think, she still needed to get home. Did Mason live nearby, if he was carrying a cat was it his?
Enid started to squirm as the arm around her propelled her towards the bushes.

That would teach him, she thought

But she was secretly pleased to see that blood from the scratches on his arm had dropped onto his posh frock, making it look a right mess.

‘Nasty moggy, ‘ Enid said as she felt Mason’s arm encircle her waist.

It skulked away but not before a backward glance which if they'd seen it, would have made them both think that they may well be seeing the cat again.

It hid beneath the undergrowth, it’s job done.

But as he held up his arm to hail an oncoming cab, the ginger cat squirmed, scratched his arm badly with its long claws and made a huge leap into the nearby bushes.

Despite his disappointment, he couldn't just leave her there all snotty and sobbing, so put his arm around her and said "come on, let's find a taxi".

Inwardly he felt crushed, despite his bravado, as he had thought she might approve of the dress and really all he wanted was her acceptance of his courageous new persona.

Enid burst into tears, clumsily hugging Mason (and the cat);
‘Oh Mason, I’m so sorry’, she snottily sobbed,
‘I’ve had too much to drink - how on Earth are we going to get home? Please help me!’

Mason’s smile faded, “I think you’re forgetting whose the boss here, Enid”, he retorted.

"And you might at least have had a shave. You can't put the foundattion on top of a week's stubble you know."

"You think" Enid replied, with those fake boobs of yours.

"But I thought it would look so much better on me and, at the same time, show you who's boss" said Mason cheerily.
