Some dream about a simpler life
Away from politics and strife
Maybe Hebrides?
No celebrities 👍
And silence it cuts like a knife

The gipsy life appeals to me
Ah, to be totally free!
The open road
To the next abode

So enjoy yourselves while you can
Though you won’t be getting a tan!
At least it is pleasant
Here in the crescent
Whilst saving for a caravan.

I can’t wait for summer to end
It seems to have done this weekend
Windy, rain and cold
Leaves turning to gold
Climate change is going round the bend.

So enjoy yourselves while you can

All these creatures out to get us
Silent ones and others that buzz
And the ones we can't see
Do you mean a flea?
Those tiny ones do cause a fuss.

I can't wait for summer to end

I 'm chasing them now with my bag
I look like a battle scarred hag
Then the flying ants
They lead me a dance,
I'm tired now and just need a fag.

The country pub sells nice cream teas
A treat in the light Summer breeze
But then wasps arrive
They've flown from their hive
And stung me on both of my knees.

I'm chasing them now with my bag

Their broomsticks use no gas or oil
Yet the cauldron is on the boil
What gives them their power?
It seems they just glower
Their scary eyes make me recoil

The country pub sells nice cream teas
