New Limerick Thread II 2016 (following New Limerick Thread)

I really like breakfast in bed
Except for the crumbs from the bread

I look like the man in the moon
Because I got up too soon
Think I'll go back to bed
Find a book I've not read
And eat a boiled egg with a spoon

Because I got up too soon
Think I'll go back to bed
Find a book I've not read

And no ladies loo

I once had a Volkswagen car
Which I carefully hitched to a star
Then sailed through the air
A happening rare
What a great trip it has been so far

Many animals get into our tales
From elephants to tiny snails
Cats, dogs, rabbits too
Or a deer or gnu
Comprising both females and males.

This town had a rat catcher bold,
He went into towns, it is told
He played a small pipe
His hometown was Fife
This story's familiar and old

Many animals get in our tales

Of course our affair ended badly
We each went our own way so sadly
We both had regrets
Went home to our pets
Who welcomed us simply and gladly.

Of course our affair ended badly
We each went our own way so sadly
We both had regrets
Went home to our pets
Whom we loved even more madly.

My cat was nice and she listened

Who welcomed us simply and gladly.
