Thanks Greatgran. Saw the doc yesterday and was changed to Amlodipine. Anyone had experience of this bp medicine?

I had a few bouts of diziness when I first started taking tablets for high bp but my doctor reduced the dosage and it was fine after that. Don't suffer in silence, Madpotter.

I'm a new member and think grans net is great. I have been taking Ramipril for few months and am having increasing problems with backnasal drip, dizziness etc. it's blighted my Christmas. Anyone else having a similar problem?

I often refer to other drivers as '***** old fools' on no evidence whatsoever than the presence of white hair. Then I have a look at myself - 71 and I sometimes think, if I'm being honest, that my driving isn't as good as it once was...

My daughter is 48 and her son of 28 is visiting her from London at the moment. She noticed he had some wrinkles around the eyes and she said it made her feel old for the first time, even more than being a grandmother does. Of course, to me, she still looks like a young girl!

Gp greatnan I bet it was worth it. (was there a loo when you got to the top - I went for a walk near there (one that ends up in Cable Bay) and when we had toiled uphill through the bush for an hour or so, there was a picnic bench and a loo!)
One of the interesting things about prejudice is that we tend to absorb it (Struck by this years ago when reading Dale Spender's Man Made Language ) My MIL, 79, very infirm and frail, refers to others as "old ladies" but does not see herself as one. I have recently joined U3A and I would be one of the youngest looking members - and thinking about my own prejudices in this area quite a lot.

I was amused today when I was on a very long, hard walk to a wonderful vew point , with my family, and two young women passed us, and said I was an inspiration to them! I wonder if some of you remember when anyone of my present age (71) was a 'litle old lady'. My own mother was very spry until her late 80's but she certainly wasn't crossing rivers on fallen trees and pulling herself up steep Alpine hills by clutching tufts of grass and branches. (This is the sort of behaviour that makes my daughter want to have me under her eye in New Zealand!)

My vision is back to normal, as the Ramipril website suggested would happen once my body got adjusted to it. However, I will have an eye test anyway as so much information can be available to an optician. I had a scare once when pigmentation was seen on my retina which could have been a sign of retinal cancer, but I went to Moorfields Eye Hospital and they said it was just harmless marking, almost like a freckle. I was able to reassure my daughter when her eye test showed the same thing, but she had it checked out, of course.

Not from my experience. They have an electric sphygmomanometer and it goes straight to the highest and it HURTS. That sends the bp up. The best one I know is an electric wrist one.
