kidney stone op anyone?

Thanks all. Will keep in touch but I don't think they'll be calling me in for a while yet. I'm lucky that this stone isn't causing any problems at the moment. They only want to remove it as it's only going to get bigger and cause probs in the future when my health might be poorer anyway. At the moment I feel absolutely fine. Just nervous.

My DD had a stone removed a while back, was out of the hospital wiithin a couple of days.
Had a bit of discomfort for a while, to be expected, but now touch wood all seems to be A, Okay

I had a kidney stone zapped and was in hospital for a couple of days. Very straightforward and soon recovered. I remember feeling great when I woke from the anaesthetic. Get it done and forgotten about. The other kidney had a stone that did damage and I had the kidney removed after a long illness. That was a very long recovery period, but no ill-effects from living with one kidney. Good luck!

Can't really help , sorry. My daughter has had around 5/6 stones in the last 2 years none of which could be removed or zapped and had to exit naturally and painfully. Scan shows 2 more lurking! BiL had your treatment a year or 2 ago and felt the worst part was the pre-op pain. Op itself was ok and he's had no trouble since then. If you can bear it until the op you should be fine afterwards, unless like DD you go on producing more ( which he hasn't done. )

Sounds like it is going to be "zapped". Must be loads better than having to be cut open like in the old days. You will probably only need a light anaesthetic, for a short time. Best wishes.
