I too was taken off it due to a niggly cough. Have been on losartin for a couple of years now with no side effects and last time GP took my BP he said it was 'perfect'

Great advice from RAF and Violet. I was put on lisinopril and developed a really annoying cough, in the day and a lot in the night, the feeling of a lump in the throat, and a hoarse voice. Eventually I went back to doctor who immediately said it was the medication, and changed it to losartin - and all the horrid side effects disappeared.
Do go back if you have any problems - maybe give it 3-4 weeks to settle, but then go back.
Better to be on pills than have a stroke, I say, even though I don't like taking them.

I've taken it for a few years, not had any real problems, I occasionally feel a little dizzy if I stand up too quickly, but as RAF says, a niggly cough can be a side effect, if you have this, don't suffer in silence but ask GP to change it. GP will probably want to see you after a month on it to see if your BP has gone down sufficiently, if not they may raise the dosage, and will probably want to do a blood test after a month as well to check kidney function is OK. If your dose goes up then GP will probably want to do a blood test again re:kidney function.

Not wishing to depress you, but do read the leaflet supplied with Ramipril.

See www.patient.co.uk/medicine/ramipril-an-ace-inhibitor-tritace and patient discussion on this reputable site, www.patient.co.uk/forums/discuss/side-effects-of-taking-ramipril-18264 mentions cough and dry mouth.

You may tolerate it well, in which case no worries, but if you do struggle, there are alternatives that you can use, don't hesitate to go back to your doctor.

Just been diagnosed with BP of 180 and prescribed Ramopril. Anyone give me any good/bad about it ?
