The bearded lady

Does anyone have a solution for those wretched hairs that grow on your chin once you are past the menopause. I am tired of tweezering them out and swear they multiply daily. There has to be a way of eradicating them once and for all, just don't know what it might be.

I think that's the one I ordered too Annabelsnan and it's just arrived. Came very quickly. Will summon courage to try it. Soon.

I use Eflora cream, also sold as Vaniqa. It's expensive to use twice a day, but facial hair removal is particularly important for me. I do still shave every day but the cream stops most of the regrowth. I also use a Braun silk-épil 7 elsewhere and sometimes for catching the odd longer hair on my face. This combination is working well for me.

I solved this problem by sporting a light beard and sportive moustache, but appreciate that this solution may not be suitable for all members. I have noticed, however, that Her Holiness wields a deft pair of tweezers on unwelcome visitors. It works very well but really makes my eyes water!

I swear by electrolysis as well. Will keep it up as long as I can get to my lady. My mother is one of those who plays with the hairs on her chin so it is on the list of things my daughter must not allow, along with pop sox worn with skirts.

My Wizzit came today, but I've not got any batteries to fit, and I'm stuck in with a very 'handyman' who is fixing my leak!
Tomorrow I shall hopefully be hairless.

MaryXYZ nice to 'see' you again, I hope your life is going well.

Nellie, it's a worry!

Jane as Nellie said, a hairy chin is not quite as bad (or even as itchy!) as our affliction blush

Thank you Lona. I'm somewhat out of action for a few months because I've had the "correction". So physically rather weak but emotionally very good.

I ordered my Whizzit this week from Amazon. It left Edinburgh yesterday, flew from East Midlands Airport to Brussels, was taken from Brussels to Paris then on to Le Havre. A DHL van will bring it from Le Havre to me in deepest rural Basse Normandie by the end of the morning. All for 8€. Not good for my carbon footprint.

Lona and Mamie, I am waiting to see how you get on. I have pale, downy hair on my cheeks which I would like to get get rid of.

Brendawymms Fri 10-Oct-14 12:03:24

My Wizzit has arrived today broken! sad

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 10-Oct-14 12:07:19

Amazon or eBay *brenda^? I got refund including p and p for the one from an Amazon seller that didn't work. The one I've got here from eBay works ok.

Brendawymms Fri 10-Oct-14 12:09:10

eBay jinglebellfrocks. I have sent a notification to the seller. Now just need to wait.

Mamie Fri 10-Oct-14 12:45:40

Perhaps it had a bumpy landing, Brenda
I do my own hot waxing with stuff you can buy in Boots. Works fine, except I struggle with getting my left eyebrow the right shape. grin

My aunt used to use a SilkyMit facial hair remover. It's a sort of fine sandpaper that you stick on a holder and rub over the affected areas! shock
I have tried it a few times (my own one, not my aunt's!) and it seems to work but can cause a bit of soreness. I prefer the certainty of tweezers.

Never pack without my tweezers! I say 'never' I was volunteering on a Welsh island a few years back when I had only a couple of persistent hairs. I realised with horror that I had forgotten to pack my beloved tweezers. One of the other volunteers had a see through make up bag and to my joy were, snuggled in the bottom, a pair of tweezers. I locked the wash room door and plucked (excuse the pun) them from the bag and tweaked to my heart's content. She never knew. I don't think she would have been too happy, we had already nicked named her Mrs Bouquet!

Mamie Sat 11-Oct-14 16:28:01

Not doing well with the Wizzit so far. It gets a few fine hairs out, but that has never been a problem. It seems to pull the coarser ones out a bit further, that is all.

Grannyknot Sat 11-Oct-14 16:43:46

flowers grin

Lona Sat 11-Oct-14 16:49:17

Got batteries in my Wizzit yesterday, then I could only find one decent hair! grin
Anyway it seemed to work, so I'll keep you posted Liz

Ana Sat 11-Oct-14 17:08:04

Mamie, I've found the Wizzit works better without the guard on. I'm not recommending or encouraging anyone to try, just saying...grin

And trying different directions of attack helps, too.

Mamie Sat 11-Oct-14 17:16:29

Ah thanks Ana, I wondered about that (especially as I had trouble getting the plastic cover back on....

Brabant - thank you so much for starting this thread, a) because some of the posts have made me laugh out loud and b) it's so good to know that I am not a freak!

My particular moan is the fact that hairs on my chin and top of my neck are so easy to locate by hand but disappear when the tweezers get near!
Eyebrows are also behaving strangely now - apart from the very coarse white variety I am now finding very++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ long ones - an inch to an inch and a half long. Am beginning to feel like Dennis Healey. Have also developed a habit of feeling top lip hairs with my tongue (when on my own I hasten to add) - tweezering those out does really make my eyes water!

Thanks for the various recommendations - off to Amazon/E-bay now!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 11-Oct-14 20:10:51

I got the courage up to try my Whizzit today! (daughter was threatening to wrench it off me and do it for me) It works really well. Just a quite satisfying tickle. Nothing like as bad as when DD tweezers them out!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 11-Oct-14 20:12:29

Thanks Ana btw. cupcake

I must be honest - I love a good pluck

I'll admit that I know nothing about this but it was an advert in The Weekend section of The Telegraph
