Can anyone point me in direction of this thread? I'm pretty sure there is one because I tried a suggestion from it and I want to report the result. TIA

Could this be the one lizzie? I did a search on the right of the page under 'Gransnet forums'. It is usually rubbish, but showed a few appropriate threads. I shall be interested to read your comments, as I share the problem.

Thanks Shysal and I agree with what you say about the search facility. I have looked at the thread but it's not the one. Anyway I wanted to report my experience of the product called "This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray" which was suggested on one of the forums.

I found it of no benefit and the overpowering smell of lavender and other ingredients in the bedroom made me feel nauseous. I tried a light spray thinking I'd previously sprayed too much but it doesn't work for me. I am a chronic insomniac and have tried everything including an overnight stay in a sleep lab wired up to a machine and the report went back to my GP saying the results show that this patient is an insomniac!!

lizzie50 and shysal- I am sorry to hear that the pair of you have problems sleeping. I am not sure what to suggest because normally I sleep like a log even when I get up to go to the loo at least twice, I go back to bed and instantly fall asleep.

I do try to go to bed around the same time each night. I cannot sleep without reading first and that could be for over an hour although I decided ages ago that the switch off time was 12 midnight.

I have a memory foam mattress and pillow and being permanently cold in bed, my duvet is 15 tog!!! I no longer share my bed with anybody other than my cat at times so that may make a difference.

I too am an insomniac - it is really draining isn't it? I did learn a relaxation technique which I find helpful sometimes. Breath in through your nose for a count of 4, hold for a count of 7, breath out through your mouth making a "whooshing" sound for a count of 8. I do this 3 times and find that it does seem to help.

I too heard that the smell of lavender can help but whenever I have tried it found the smell so overpowering that I had to open the door and windows to get rid of it!

I used to be insomniac but very rarely suffer now unless I lapse from my diet.
