Felt off colour for few days then yesterday felt weak, shaking and bad headache. Feel same this morning and saw from another thread that a virus had been going around and wonder if I've succumbed to same one or perhaps not; I don't have a cold or catarrh (had the latter in Feb, Mar and Apr).

When resting on sofa/bed did you have a routine to get the best out of your rest.

If you had a headache did reading, watching TV make it worse?

I have appointments coming up, hairdresser tomorrow, beauty salon on Saturday, Hampton Court flower show next Thursday:

I read that some GNers thought they were getting better only to feel worse again. Is that because you tried to keep appointments and then had a relapse? TIA

Generally speaking I find that things like having my hair done and the odd treatment at the spa contribute to overall feeling of well being so I would try to keep those appointments. Making sure you have plenty of fluids and a light diet should keep you well nourished and not overload your system and get plenty of rest, afternoon nap, early nights that kind of thing. Some times are body just needs a bit of extra cossetting to fight off these events. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Enjoy the flower show- its should boost your spirits. flowers

Thank you for your reply teetime. Will see how I feel tomorrow; at moment it's an effort walking from room to room.

I am on my sixth (I think) week. I would not be able to keep any of the appointments you mention.

I can still Gransnet from my i-pad mini, mostly from a prone position. Same with reading. I can watch evening tv whilst sitting in our very comfortable and supportive armchair. That's about it really. It's a waiting game.

Mine consists of feeling 'billious', to use a word you don't hear so much nowadays, headache off and on, and post nasal drip (sorry tmi) And horrible taste in mouth. And no appetite. Started with a sore throat but that has gone now. Bit of earache on and off. It's all very weird.

I do hope you recover more quickly than I am doing. Rest, rest, and more rest. flowers

Yes. strength seems to go out of the window.

Remember to drink a lot, even if you don't really want to. It helps. I'm on Robinsons sugar free Orange, well diluted. Goes down more easily than plain water.

Yes sounds like the virus, it's a b***er. Mind you if you start having any other symptoms it worth just running it by the GP.

I remember when at work in my 50's I was off for 8 weeks and even when back felt like poo.

lizzi50 Wed 24-Jun-15 13:20:05

Thanks to all who have replied. From what you say it would seem I've got the virus a lot of GNers have had/still have.

annodomini Wed 24-Jun-15 13:29:43

Sounds like the one I had and my American friend in Indiana had exactly the same symptoms at the same time. We decided it was a computer virus grin but seriously, just look after yourself and don't try to do too much and it will go away eventually. brew

kittylester Wed 24-Jun-15 14:00:04

I've got it too.

I'm fine mostly but then feel like I'm wading through treacle with a raging headache. Then I feel better and then the bloody thing comes back again. And, then there's the pesky wind shock

Hope it's not a computer virus Anno or I'll never get better! grin

harrigran Wed 24-Jun-15 17:48:55

I had that, sore throat, dodgy tummy, terrible wind. I couldn't for the life of me think what I had eaten to make me so windy blush

Galen Wed 24-Jun-15 18:14:03

Just asking from curiosity

have had/got that on and off couple of weeks, have teenager bringing in germs and look after 2year old who picks all sorts of bits up from nursery...maybe same for the rest of you ....the wind isn't the grinproblem...I have that viral or not grin

DH and I have had it, but pretty mildly, I had the headache, he had the wind grin.

I found the unusual thing was I drifted into it over a week, one day mildly under the weather, the next day fine and the recovery has been the same; Monday (last week) OK, Tuesday, rough, Wednesday, OK etc. Finally got rid of it (cross fingers) on Monday this week. In between a week when I felt too exhausted to leave the house and had to cancel several appointments.

DD and I went up to London yesterday and when we got home the app on her phone said we had walked 8.75 miles. I felt fine. Mind you, the very large slice of carrot and walnut cake I had in the cafe at the Museum of Fashion and Textiles helped.

Veryoldbear Wed 24-Jun-15 23:24:50

Oi, Mrs F. The wind had nothing to do with viruses. It was due to eating a giant gluten-packed organic fibrous bread roll for breakfast in Denmark, another one for lunch, and yet another for supper on the way back. That'll give anybody wind, not to mention severe carb overload ...

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 25-Jun-15 10:42:04

Galen grin I just mean 'lying down'. Have definitely not been face down for the last few weeks!

Grannyknot Thu 25-Jun-15 14:44:40

"I found the unusual thing was I drifted into it over a week ..."
