Have any of you tried Finitro Forte Plus. Have been reading about it and it sounds fantastic. My neck is badly damaged and anything that can help would be like a dream come true.

I use turmeric too. I buy the spice from supermarkets. £1.55 for 48g turmeric at M&S. Try not to swallow it immediately but keep it under your tongue for a bit.
You only need the amount they put in 2 capsules and that` s 1/8 or 1/4 of teaspoon of turmeric.

Hi. I have been suffering from osteoarthritis of the hands since coming of HRT last year. It has been gradually getting worse and I was referred to the rheumatologist who said that I had got both Bouchards and Heberdens nodes on several of my fingers. My thumbs have been particularly painful and I have a trigger thumb and finger on my right hand. I have done extensive research into foods and natural health products and tried several in the hopes that they may help. However nothing seemed to have had much effect until I saw anti/arthritic gloves advertised. I decided to give them a try and ordered a pair which have open fingertips but cover both joints on my fingers. They are not very attractive and are slightly difficult to get off but I am so impressed with the difference these gloves have made. One thumb is still s little painful but I feel as if I'be been given new hands. I wear them overnight and that is enough to see me through the whole of the day. They keep your hands warm thus increasing the blood flow and stop your fingers from clawing. I can't recommend them enough for anyone who is suffering. Forget the pills and the creams. These are fantastic.

Does anyone else who has neck problems have tinnitus too? I can hear my neck creaking and groaning when I turn and have noticed the worse my neck is the louder the tinnitus. Does anyone do neck exercises and if so, does it make your neck feel better or worse?

Got my turmeric today from Holland & Barrett - like you, Lullydully, in the Penny Sale! smile

Bellanonna Tue 05-Jan-16 23:25:02

Blimey. I paid more than that for one. I'll try H&B when I use up this supply.

LullyDully Tue 05-Jan-16 17:36:26

I got two big jars for £14 on Holland and Barrets penny sale......Better than the pain.

Bellanonna Tue 05-Jan-16 13:55:47

Thanks Lully. I'm too young at 75 IMO. Your experience sounds encouraging. They're not cheap though are they? Or did I go to the wrong shop (an independent health store) ?

LullyDully Tue 05-Jan-16 13:47:14

Hope it works Bella Donna. Just had one bad night in a week and a half since taking turmeric.

Chilli? Will try anything Anya.

(I'm too young for arthritis at 18.........oh no......66!!!!! )

Anya Tue 05-Jan-16 08:16:45

I've heard that chilli helps too. Perhaps we should all eat more curries hmm

Iam64 Tue 05-Jan-16 08:00:06

Do let us know if it helps Bellanonna

I looked into turmeric and decided that despite my other prescribed meds I'd be ok to take it. So I bought some today. Here's hoping for some joint pain relief.

LullyDully Mon 04-Jan-16 19:53:25

Thanks for clearing that up 64.

Little gran...... I think you should be OK on turmeric, but it would be a good idea to check at Holland and Barrett.. Better safe than sorry.

Iam64 Mon 04-Jan-16 17:43:06

LullyDully no I've had the same name since I joined granset. I couldn't quite believe I'd reached the magical age made famous in that Lennon and McCartney song that I'd sung along to as a teenager and nowI'm even older smile

LullyDully Mon 04-Jan-16 12:16:09

P.S. I am 64, do you change your name each year?

LullyDully Mon 04-Jan-16 12:13:39

Thanks for that IAM.. I don't take anything else apart from thyroxine so hopefully ok. I do hope you have an alternative.

Marelli Mon 04-Jan-16 08:00:21

Thanks, Iam64, I'll go along to Holland and Barrett tomorrow, when the shops re-open here. Hope you are allowed to come off the warfarin.

Iam64 Mon 04-Jan-16 07:49:00

Anno, yes it's safe and possible to have steroid injections into the foot.

Naproxen doesn't stay in the system any length of time. I expect it'd be fine to avoid anti inflammatories for 48 hours before introducing turmeric. I wish I could try the turmeric and am hoping that I may be allowed to stop taking the warfarin when I'm next reviewed at cardiology. I fear not though!

Marelli Mon 04-Jan-16 06:31:45

I've was going to give turmeric a try, then saw what you said about the Naproxen's contraindication. I have neck and knee osteoarthritis, and the knee is limiting my (long) walking abilities now, so it's a bit of a vicious circle. Wonder how long Naproxen stays in the system? Perhaps might just go ahead and stop that and start on turmeric.

tanith Sun 03-Jan-16 23:03:43

I would like to of given the Tumeric a try but I am on Naproxen and it's a contra-indication shame.

Bellanonna Sun 03-Jan-16 22:57:54

Anno, my husband had cortisone injection in his foot a few years ago. I have had one in each knee, giving wonderful, but not lasting relief.

annodomini Sun 03-Jan-16 22:36:22

I have had hip and part-shoulder replacements as a result of osteo-arthritis and have had quite a few good years since then. However, my left foot is now quite arthritic and the right foot seems to be joining in which is annoying as well as painful when I walk. It doesn't help that I have polymyalgia, reasonably well controlled by steroids. Does anyone know if it's possible to have a cortisone injection in the foot? I once had one in my hand which couldn't be done by my GP - had to be under an x-ray by a hospital consultant. Perhaps the foot would be equally tricky. And it didn't work too well in the hand anyway. I will give Turmeric a try in the meantime.

LullyDully Sun 03-Jan-16 21:38:37

Thanks. Take care.

Iam64 Sun 03-Jan-16 21:02:19

That's good to read LullyDully. I can't take turmeric at the moment, its counter indicated if you're on warfarin or other blood thinners. The turmeric websites are good on giving information about medications contra indicated with turmeric.
Incidentally, a number of people I know give turmeric to their arthritic dogs, with good results.

I have been suffering badly with leg and knee pain from my hip osteoarthritis. It has been excruciating and crippling over Christmas.

A few days ago , at Holland and Barrett , the man serving recommended Turmeric...... two a day.....wow magic, such a difference. I can sleep at night and sit down comfortably. Not to mention stand quickly, two feet at once without waiting for the pain to subside.

Due to go to the doctor for my three week, waited for, appointment booked before Christmas. Want to be on the operation list.

Do try turmeric if you are in pain, anything is worth a go. Had a couple of days of wind but it has settled down now.
