Puffy feet....help!

Have returned from my most enjoyable travels with puffy feet/ankles-6 weeks of steroids are obviously contributing as it's not something I've had previously. Apart from sitting with feet up is there anything else I can do to disperse this??

The feet have returned to normal-veins and tendons now all visible! Not the best look possibly, but better than the two Rowntree jellies I had at the weekend!

sounds like you could do with some diuretics! Try and give salt a miss too. A natural diuretic is parsley so you could try munching on some.

katek! grin

I know it's quite a common problem, but no-one seems to know what causes it so it suggests to me that there must be several reasons. All I know is that it didn't ever happen until I hit 50. Yet I have met other younger women with the same problem. I did find this article, which I had never come across before when I had tried to find an answer.

Don't be fooled by the title, it doesn't tell you how to prevent it at all!

I like your garden Katek.

I have one very swollen leg/ankle/foot following a total knee replacement. Sleep with feet elevated and slightly better in morning but no sooner upright than all puffy again. Any suggestions, optimism?? Not very keen on diuretics as taking so many pills and getting up in night four or five times as it is.

My ankles are still a bit bigger in the afternoon than the morning especially if it's very hot. It's much better than it was though and my feet don't go puffy as well now. I've been buying new sandals every spring because the year before's are much too big then.

Katek my husband gives me pitying looks when I tell him some of the jokes on GN grin

Allo allo there elegran! Am already wearing the flying helmet -just off to get the wet celery! Anything to reduce the swelling. (insert own joke here!)

Spoke to my GP this morning re the puffy feet and ankles I have now I am on Amlodipine and he laughed when I told him that I say hello to my ankles when I wake up in the morning because I know they will disappear very soon after I get out of bed.

I'm so tempted to make a joke with your last remark. grin

Had to ask DH to help......he shook his head pityingly. Yes, that's Claudia, 6 year old Persian x..

It's top of feet down to toes that's been swollen-ankles not as bad although I have chicken legs which disguises it a little. I have that pitted thing where the dent doesn't spring out after you poke it.

Ana Sun 23-Aug-15 22:48:59

These modern remote-control selfie sticks are amazing, Anya! grin

(Must say your ankles don't look terribly puffy to me KateK - it must be working!)

Anya Sun 23-Aug-15 22:43:23

Is that your cat?

Anya Sun 23-Aug-15 22:42:13

I'm impressed Kate - how did you manage to get in that position AND take the photo?

Elegran Sun 23-Aug-15 21:48:36

Jane Get a flying helmet too.

Deedaa Sun 23-Aug-15 21:15:39

When DH started commenting on my swollen feet and ankles I thought it was time to see the doctor. He put me on diuretics for a month and they went down beautifully and I lost half a stone. He then said to wait and see if they started swelling again, in which case he would give me something I could take permanently. They are definitely on the way up again so I shall see him again this week!

POGS Sun 23-Aug-15 20:59:55

I have posted this before but I was on Amlodipine and had swollen ankles. My doctor changed my tablet to Indapemide and I am much better now with regard to flying and swollen ankles , although heat does cause me a problem still.

What a ruddy view Kate grin

Katek Sun 23-Aug-15 20:09:39

You asked for it! Couldn't get legs any higher as dinner was in the way!

Added bonus of Claudia Cat.

Jane10 Sun 23-Aug-15 18:22:20

Good idea Anya! Will get celery tomorrow. Got to be worth a try!

janerowena Sun 23-Aug-15 17:42:16

Celery! I have hardly touched it this summer, so much else growing, I shall try some. I can't blame it on salt as I use very little.

Photo please katek! grin

We could have a Fat Foot Foto competition during the next hot spell. grin
