Afternoon nap.

If I've been really busy I tend to fall asleep in the afternoon. I don't like doing this because I feel like a Zombie when I wake up.

Any tips for feeling better after a nap?

I don't think my boss would be very impressed if I had a post lunch nap!grin

My husband always falls asleep in late afternoon if he's played golf, he says it's because he's walked a long way and has tired himself out, but I think otherwise, it's such a boring game it sends anyone who plays it to sleep grin

We can't tell you Ana it may make you envious! grin

Having a tiring tryst with the milkman, or out doing retail therapy etc.

Lucky you, having a milkman at all - never mind one to have a tryst with (tiring or otherwise!) grin

I think I nap from boredom half the time. If I find myself something to do I don't miss not having napped.
I also fall asleep in front the TV in the evening especially when cozied up on a winter evening

Have just woken from a nap after Sunday lunch. camlyn you must be psychic, today I had a Mars Bar!

I remember reading if you are driving and stop for a nap, have a coffee first, it takes about 40 mins for caffeine to have any effect so you won't sleep too long and wake up brighter. I can't say if it works as I can't sleep at night let alone the day!!!!

Matella Sun 22-Nov-15 17:07:39

I was just going to say that Bug180! I was going to add that I just sit in the chair and never lie down and as coffee is a diuretic that you wake up also wanting a wee and by the time you have sorted yourself out you are wide awake and perked up from the coffee.

Now that would be telling!

I tend to nod off whilst doing the crossword and watching afternoon TV. I Put a magazine on the floor so after about 15mins of snoozing and just when I'm about to enter deeper sleep, my hand relaxes enough to drop the pen. The rattle wakes me up nicely refreshed!

TerriBull Sun 22-Nov-15 19:28:49

I don't fall asleep in the afternoon, but come 9 pm I drop off, usually when I'm about to watch a programme I really want to see such as The Bridge sad I've recorded it, but have been known to fall asleep on second viewing and so it goes!

rosequartz Sun 22-Nov-15 19:30:22

I used to find myself nodding off during history lessons at school after school dinners - I was only about 15 at the time!

Now I nod off in the evening then can't get to sleep at night

Ana Sun 22-Nov-15 19:33:20

Well I'm sorry, I find all this hard to believe! The day I start nodding off in the middle of the day will be the day I begin to feel really old...some of you are much younger than me! shock

Ana Sun 22-Nov-15 19:35:32

(actually, I've just realised I don't actually know how old most of you are - I'm obviously more senile than I'd thought...)

rosequartz Sun 22-Nov-15 19:40:09

Older than you perhaps grin

Or perhaps we're starting to hibernate

I have always wanted to nod off at some point during the day and then am awake at 1 am

Must have Spanish blood.

Ana Sun 22-Nov-15 19:43:49

I know nina's younger than me! grin

TerriBull Sun 22-Nov-15 19:51:15

61. but I've had narcolepsy since I was about 20 or so. A boyfriend I went out with from when I was aged 19 to 22 said I was the first girlfriend he'd been out with that fell asleep on dates. I always like to be a first grin

Ana. I need a nap in the afternoon at the age of 64 as I have to get up three or four times in the night to tend to my OH who had a stroke fifteen years ago. I also have an autistic son living at home. I try to have about 40 minutes in an armchair after lunch and then usually play a couple of games of something simple like Solitaire to bring my mind back to wakefulness.

Ana Sun 22-Nov-15 22:56:55

puppytoe of course I know there are many people like you who have a very good reason for needing a nap in the day...smile

rosesarered Sun 22-Nov-15 22:58:10

If you are new to this forum , then welcome puppytoe seems as if you have a lot of difficulties to contend with, so you need a nap.smile

rosesarered Sun 22-Nov-15 22:59:35

The rest of us lazy so and so's, on the other hand.........

ninathenana Sun 22-Nov-15 23:10:14

Only two years Ana grin
I don't plan a nap, I just find myself nodding off if I'm reading. My friend is 52 and has a lie down every afternoon. Never understood that one.

Ma Mon 23-Nov-15 11:25:48

Totally agree with MargaretX - started doing it, occasionally, in my mid sixties. Keep it short and it's wonderful.

ooonana Mon 23-Nov-15 13:38:52

My problem is I wake up very early and feel energised and then work like mad til lunch time. After then I'm good for nothing.....any ideas how to cure this?
