Do you enjoy it? Has it improved your health/flexibility do you think? Is it possible to start it at my age (60something)?
Is there a 'body' (scuse pun) of yogis who regulate how good a yoga teacher is? Is that the best way to find one? Any advice very welcome - thank you!

Yoga is amazing for any age. It helps with flexibility and whole body health, but more importantly, it helps to bring calm and peace to the mind. Look at the British Wheel of Yoga website to find a teacher - don't just join up to any old class at your local leisure centre without checking out the teacher's credentials, because the instructors there are likely to treat yoga as any other form of exercise and you will not gain the full benefit of having a specialist accredited teacher.

Follow nightowl's advice and you won't go wrong. I have being doing yoga for years and regardless of your age and condition everyone can gain benefits from the practice if you have a good teacher. Give it a go. ?

Totally agree with all the above! As our teacher is always stressing to us, it's not an exercise class, the whole ethos is different. I go to Yoga Nidra, which is very gentle and includes deep meditation - something that I never thought I'd be able to do! In Yoga you do what you can manage to do, which makes it ideal for the more mature of us, or those with limited mobility.

Hope you find a class near you and enjoy the results smile
