My anxieties have anxieties today as I have an appointment tomorrow for a Mammogram recall. I am 68 and never happened before so has come as a bit of a shock. Just need some positive thoughts and helpful words that will get me through tonight and tomorrow. Pauline x

Good news for you too, Tegan

Bellanonna Wed 04-May-16 19:07:32

That's good Pauline, and all the positive responses on here should help to allay others' fears, at least to know that more often than not it's nothing to worry about. Bet you enjoyed that cup of tea. ?

So smile for you!

shysal Wed 04-May-16 19:07:08

Tegan, so pleased that your investigations showed nothing worrying. I have been wondering if you had been seen. flowers

So pleased for you. It's what we all dread so I'm delighted that there is nothing to worry about.

That is splendid news. I too once had a calcified breast lump and lots of to-ing and fro-ing with the results being sent to a centre of excellence (?where - can't remember!) to be reported on - all this took several weeks and I was fairly hysterical by that time! But isn't it great when the news is good? Big sighs of relief!! Hooray for you!

That was the longest day ever! All good now thank goodness. Was told my recall was for a small spot above the nipple which the radiographer marked with 3 crosses! After 3 hours in breast screening, about 10 mammograms from every angle imaginable, then an ultra sound with two lovely doctors who eventually told me that it was nothing to worry about as it was just thickening breast tissue and calcification (and yes nigglenellie old age was mentioned!). No biopsy needed so I am one of the lucky ones. They said they were sorry for what must have been an anxious wait for the result! How nice was that.
Thank you everyone for your positive responses to my first message, they really helped to get me through. Celebrated at the hospital cafe with a cup of tea and the best tasting chocolate muffin ever!
Much love to everyone - Pauline x (flowers)

II hope all is fine for you eniluap I found a lump some years ago and was in a state of terrified panic for a week while I waited for an appointment so I know
the fear as many others have said. Mine proved to be a cyst luckily.

Three years ago I had a recall which proved to be calcification due to old age! !! I was absolutely terrified and googled every article I could find which only only served to convince me that I was on death row!! The relief when it was ok was unimaginable! even the reference to age was gratefully received!! Try not to worry, it is very scary, but nearly always the result is positive. (hugs)

I was where you are yesterday....scan for something else but totally petrified. Everything was fine though. I know exactly how you feel today. Hug on it's way.....

Six weeks after the death of my brother from cancer, I had a recall too. Cue me going into panic mode and almost at the point of checking my last will and testament. I went to have the biopsy full of dread. The staff were fantastic and reassured me that they thought it was probably a cyst. A couple of days later I had a phone call to say all was well. However, 24 hours later I had another call to ask me to go back! I went back into double panic mode. I didn't think to ask why so my DH suggested I call my designated nurse. She said that the biopsy was inconclusive. They were either expecting to see cancer cells or cyst fluid. What they got was healthy breast tissue. Basically they had missed the target so to speak so hence the second d recall. At my second appointment I had the same great team who got the spot and I watched enthralled as the cyst collapsed when they drained it. To be on the safe side it was analysed and all was well.
Oh by the way. We put a bottle of Champagne in the fridge so that we could either drown our sorrows or celebrate on our return home. I suggest you do the same! Best wishes ?

I had a recall as well and then an appointment for ultrasound. They couldn't find anything! Turns out it was a fluid filled cyst which the second mammogram had popped! Try and stay as positive as you can, the odds are its nothing serious.

Sending 'gentle' hugs and warm wishes - let us know how it goes ?
