I'll check that out at Boots tomorrow. I have to be careful not to use anything with collagen in as it can make the Dupuytrans worse.

Mine were dreadful last summer but touch wood not too bad now. I have had times when I could not open the car boot with my thumbs.
Have any of you tried Flexiseq a product that is supposed to "lubricate" arthritic joints. It's not a medicine Arthritis UK have been promoting it it seems to help.

Both hands - sorry nothing seems to help, joints getting knobblier and knobblier! Never mind there are worse things.

I will buy one, fearful of the kettle dropping out of my hand again , thank you

Wow; what a great idea. I'm terrible for overfilling the kettle so it would save energy.

I'm at the hand clinic about my Dupuytrans on Friday so it'll be interesting to see what they say about the thumb joint. Unless, of course they won't look at it as it's a different problem. We have one of the best hand clinics in the country in Derby so I'm quite lucky in that respect. I did a lot of painting/decorating earlier this year, and then, recently, I've been working out at the gym a lot. I wonder if using the weights etc has done this to my hand. So much for getting fit, eh sad. If I'd worn protective gloves more it might not have happened#annoyedwithmyself

Tegan, I did tell my GP it was RSI, she smiled sweetly and said - no age related arthritis . I am sticking with RSI when asked on opening the door with the gloves on - what have you done to your hands

Would it be better to heat the water in a microwave Annie? Or, perhaps, get a small travel kettle?

Tegan Mon 19-Sept-16 12:40:40

Company was healthandcare.co.uk; can't believe I'm at the stage where I'm having to buy things from companies like that sad.

Ooooh what are those Katek, dropping the kettle this morning did rather frighten me

Tegan Mon 19-Sept-16 12:38:13

Great; have ordered a thumb support from them which will, hopefully stop me aggravating the joint. Going away for a couple of weeks and have told the S.O. that I'm doing NOTHING but chill out. Putting lots of ibuprofen gel onto the joint and drinking turmeric tea [might not help but tastes lovely!]. It's funny how you can google something and not come up with the site that you need.

I've just bought one of those instant hot water things which you pop your cup under and get boiling water in 45 secs. It's for no other reason than quickness (laziness!) but wondered if it might be useful/more safe for those of you with problems with hands/fingers.

I have good days and bad days, but the bad days are getting more frequent.

Seem to now have this in my 'good' hand. There are older threads about arthritis in the hands but I wondered where everyone was now with the problem and if anyone had any new treatments/ideas etc. Am currently looking for some fingerless gloves that might make it less painful. You don't realise how much you use your thumb until it hurts to do so. It seemed to happen quite suddenly; maybe I was focusing on the DD in my other hands and it sort of crept up on me!
