Mammogram headache?

Stress? Along with smear tests, NOT anybody's favourite occupation?

Yes maybe anxiety - I have never heard of it causing a headache but sometimes I suppose if you have to twist your neck and shoulders round you could have involved a nerve or something. Hopefully it will pass with a couple of paracetomol and a cup of tea. Put your feet up.

It is a horrible procedure. Stress rebound headache? Relax with a nice cup of tea and at least mammogram is over.

Funny you should mention this,I had a similar experience when I had my first mammogram 2 years ago. Not exactly a migraine, (didn't feel sick) but had enough to have to take a couple of my codeine/paracetamol tablets. I am quite generously endowed,so I don't think you being less well endowed would have been a factor! Incidentally,I found the worst part of the whole procedure was having to walk naked from the waist up,from the changing room to he machine! Very undignified.

Cup of tea drunk - paracetamol taken - headache still there! I wasn`t aware of being particularly stressed about it but perhaps I was.
Gosh Spangles that sounds horrible. My experience was in a mobile unit in Morrisons carpark and I was able to stay covered up until I was clamped into the machine. It was quite a conveyor belt type experience though - I seem to remember in previous years that the nurse had a bit of a chat, advising on checking etc and asking if I had any concerns - this time she barely said Hello!

Spangles1963 leaving you exposed like that is very poor practice. I had a recall on my last mammogram. They repeated the scan. The radiograper left me on the couch waiting for the consultant and put paper towels over my breasts until she came.

Just a small touch but I felt that it preserved my dignity.

Same thing happened to me last time spangles, Before I always kept something round me until I reached the machine. New area I thought, but maybe changed practices?

Yes I thought it was quite poor practice too,but the nurse popped her head round the door of the changing room and said 'Can you make your way to the machine now,make sure you are totally naked on your top half'. Maybe I misinterpreted her words and could have wrapped my cardigan around my top half until I reached the machine,but the nurse was distinctly unfriendly,so me feeling a bit vulnerable and exposed,obeyed her words to the letter. I will know better next time!

How unpleasant Spangles. Its a bad enough situation without being treated like that. The place I have to go to for mammography is very nice and well designed. Most staff are nice but not all of them. I don't suppose its the job of their dreams though!

I would certainly pop my cardy on. If they don't like it, tough luck they can get on with it. I don't let anyone intimidate me these days.

I agree with you claudiaclaws and always go with a cardi.

Job done! The nurse was very nice indeed advised me to wrap myself in my cardi (chose one of my softest, especially to comfort me!) and actually, it didn't hurt! Which probably means they will have me back to redo it as it wasn't good enough.
Of course it could be that they have improved the machinery - perhaps bringing in a woman to advise?
Anyway, all done but YES I now have a splitting headache!! I am sure it is to do with tension or the release thereof.
So now, for anybody whose mammies are due to be grammed, here's a cheerful picture

Were you waiting there a long time? I find the strip lighting and lack of windows in hospital appointments gives me a headache if I'm there for a long period of time

In and out! No waiting other than to take my top off. 15 minutes in total

I too would think it a combination of stress, and the pulling about they do to you, perhaps catching a nerve as Teetime mentioned. Hope you have good results

Here`s a puzzle - this morning I went for a routine mammogram and this afternoon I have got a splitting headache - coincidence or could there be a link?
(I`m not a very well endowed lady so was well and truly squashed!)

Hi - did the migraines ever stop? I had my first mammogram three weeks ago and I still have pain in my temples.

I think the headache may be postural. I have arteries on my neck so if my neck is twisted as in sleep or the position needed for a mammogram I get a massive headache.Physio diagnosed this as postural.

Arthritis!
