DGS has had his first night on gaviscon and with the mattress raised at the head - I am awaiting a progress report.

My GS was diagnosed with severe silent reflux at 5 mths. He is now 3 1/2 yrs and has to maintain a wheat, gluten, dairy, egg and soya free diet. My DS is a Coeliac and the paediatric consultant thinks GS is following that route. We know if he has eaten something not right as his tummy distends and he can be sick or have diahorrea, his breath can smell acidic and he makes a weird gargling sound. His behaviour also changes. It was horrid at the beginning but once they had sorted the correct medication and later his diet he was /is like a different child.

Luckygirl D was advised to raise the head end of GS cot. She did this with a pillow under the mattress.

Many thanks for the link.

DGS is 18 months and has never slept well - my DD's instinct was that he was inc9mfortable in his tummy somewhow.

Last week he started to vomit intermittently but did not seem ill - no temp or malaise and in the main he was eating OK.

Saw doc today who confirmed that it did not look like a virus, and gave him gaviscon - so we wait and see.

One of my granddaughters was diagnosed with silent reflux around 2-3. She had no obvious digestive symptoms but had tests due to an awful cough and recurring chest problems.

My GS had severe reflux. He was on Omeprazole and other drugs he had a few stays in hospital for observation and tests and they were seriously considering surgery.
He is now four and fortunately has outgrown the problem.

Anyone out there have any experience of this?
