Hysteroscopy

I've no experience of this procedure but wish you well and hope your problem is resolved quickly.

I was worried about having a general anaesthetic as I hadn't had one for over twenty years but I felt fine, no sickness etc.

That's reassuring thank you all I have had the procedure already in OPD failed despite injecting my cervix four times (!) with LA but the Consultant couldn't find the offending article thus the need for the GA not worried about the procedure just the anaesthetic - am trying to 'woman up' and the GP hadn't fannied about with my HRT we wouldn't be in this position.

I had one with no sedation at all. I watched it on the screen and saw all my bits including the entrance to my fallopian tubes. I went home after a cup of tea. Slight bleeding and cramp but no problems at all. I had a polypectomy? a week later.

The GA (if you are having one) is very light. I was wide awake half an hour later and would have gone back to work the next day except it was a Saturday.

I have had 2 hysteroscopies.... both for unexplained bleeding .... both times I was sedated and knew and felt nothing. As downtoearth says, just a some slight period pain afterwards. An easy procedure. Try not to worry about it.

Had mine under GA through "trapdoor" so no incisions ,for heavy bleeding....just some mild period pain after...and done as a day stay home indoors by 3pm.....good luck it is worth it to get to the cause of your problems....I was asked if I would like a local .. I wasn't that brave

Ooooo, same here, I had mine under general anaesthetic for non stop bleeding, they put a Mirena in whilst 'up there'. I was petrified of the procedure as I am a scardey puss and had to be stopped from 'deciding not to bother having an op' by a lovely theatre nurse, who told me I needed the problem bleeding sorting (the blood loss, she wasn't swearing at me lol). Anyway, all over and done with without cause for concern and recovered quickly and Mirena cured the bleeding immediately.

Teetime I'm afraid I can't tell you much about mine, I was sedated. Mine was for un- accountable bleeding.

Sorry that Christmas will start with a grope around the nethers. I am sure that you will appreciate the celebrations all the more for having that behind you.
