I wouldn't worry about the language, Antonia. The dermatologist will look at it and know what you want done. Ask your french GP to write a referral letter, and take it with you. I had a small mole on my arm which was spreading a bit, and after seeing my GP (he sent off a sample) had it cut out by a dermatologist (in Toulouse, France.) Excellent care and didn't have to wait long.
Most GP surgeries in England have one doctor who does minor ops and this is classed as a minor op. My surgery has a weekly list. I personally would not have anything done there because I do not think that it is the correct environment and space is at a premium.
My son whomlives in Spain had similar on his face and as area her wanted it removed before term. No problems having that done inSpain so should think same for France
Thank you Tanith. I have just plucked up the courage to ring the doctors about it and the receptionist gave me the number of the dermatologist. They are on holiday at the moment but I can get an appointment in the new year. I will just have to brush up on the language skills and go for it. Thank you both for your replies, you have given me the incentive I needed! Just love Gransnet!
Antonia one of the doctors in our practice removes skin tags in the surgery so when you register here maybe there will be someone there who can remove it for you.
I have this awful skin tag on my face, right in the middle of my cheek. It sticks out and I feel like a witch. I am not worried about it from a medical point of view but from a cosmetic point of view it stinks. I'm not the world's best beauty in any case but this isn't helping. I mentioned it to my doctor who told me the name of someone who could call with it, but my French isn't brilliant (I lived in France) and I didn't understand everything she said so I didn't follow it up. We will be moving back to the UK next summer so I thought I would leave it until I can speak to an English doctor. Has anyone had this and how did you deal with it? I would ignore it on any other part of my body, but I can't ignore it on my face and it is getting me down. My DGS asked what it was, so it is obviously noticeable.
