The health quiz, oh dear!

I thought that I was pretty healthy but have just had a shock. I'd go and have a lie down but that's not good for me.
Apparently my heart is 75 and I'm only 63!!This quiz was the main topic on the breakfast show this morning www.nhs.uk/one you, so I thought I would give it a go.
The woman that they interviewed said she had lied so I made myself be brutally honest. Actually I have no clue what my cholesterol level is or my blood pressure. This is because it's always fine so I don't take any notice , I think I would have done better if I had known.
Has anyone else done it?

I tried but could not get past my age which is 73. It would not proceed although I had to repeat it so many times that I gave up.

I would strongly advise against doing this quiz.
I did it last year and now get sanctimonious emails from OneYou containing snippets of advice about how to reduce my alcohol consumption shockshock
grin

Thanks for the warning janeainsworth..I will give it a miss in case it tells me the same! wine

I answered honestly, but was a bit bemused by the response re alcohol consumption. I declared that I typically drank one glass of wine on three days a week, two on two other days, nothing on two days. I got a stern warning about not "cramming" my drinking into one or two days, and was told to spread it out over the week. I thought that's what I was doing!

Disclaimer: my Christmas drinking is not typical, nor is it moderate.....tchgrin

Oh gawd, janea, and I've just said yes to their helpful emails! grin

I gave up when expected to calculate how many minutes I carry shopping/dig garden/do housework etc.

You just do it when it needs doing.

PamelaJ1 Wed 28-Dec-16 14:14:09

Oh dear, I think I will be getting the sanctimonious emails- also about the drinking?.we grans must be a boozey lot.

Lona Wed 28-Dec-16 14:25:00

I did it and I'm nearly perfect ? but I did bend the truth a bit! ?

Christinefrance Wed 28-Dec-16 15:28:34

That's the way to do it Lona tchsmile

Charleygirl Wed 28-Dec-16 15:32:36

I managed eventually and I should go for a 30 minute stride down the road at a fast pace. As I have problems getting out the front door that is not going to happen any time soon.

They were interested in the fact that I have never smoked and drink about once a month. I do not like alcohol except wine or things may have been different!

I did the test and it told me I need to exercise more and be more active. I'm very active and am trying to cut down following a stern lecture from the women's health physio telling me to do less or I'd end up having surgery again. The heart health quiz showed me older than I am also as I don't know my cholesterol. I thought my blood pressure was healthy at 120/80 but this says it's high normal and should be lower. The GP says it's Ok. Overall, I'm not impressed with these quizzes.

Lona Wed 28-Dec-16 15:41:39

It's much more satisfying to do it my way! grin

DanniRae Wed 28-Dec-16 16:21:13

I got a score of 7 - and I was honest with my answers.

I've signed up for helpful emails too - oh dear, maybe that was a mistake?

I heard the other day that Sian Williams (used to be on BBC Breakfast) is questioning the 'healthy eating', diets such as 5:2, lots of fruit and vegetables, no sugar etc. She said she has always followed a healthy eating regime whereas her husband (who is quite a bit older than her) will eat eg a couple of doughnuts for lunch.
She had cancer, he is perfectly fit.

I wouldn't advocate the doughnut diet but I think it has more to do with your genes than your lifestyle.

Maggiemaybe Wed 28-Dec-16 23:01:59

I'm sure there's a lot in that, Jalima. My mum and her mum had much healthier lifestyles than me (though I do try, Guv, honest grin), and neither made old bones. Same with my dad and his dad... The upside is that they all enjoyed good health virtually up to the end.

It's not looking particularly good, is it? Where's that wine?

Jomarie Thu 29-Dec-16 00:02:23

I'm in the red - no surprise there. Time will tell as they say - now off to bed with a nightcap.......

durhamjen Thu 29-Dec-16 00:19:28

I resented the fact that I couldn't say I would not choose any meat or fish and gave up then.

Anya Thu 29-Dec-16 00:23:26

Yes DJ there were too many times when I had to choose and nothing was appropriate. I don't eat ANY cereals, but I still had to choose. I only eat potatoes on rare occasions and again I had to choose.

Very poorly designed.

DanniRae Thu 29-Dec-16 13:04:35

Yes, it said what drink would you choose? Sugary drink/diet drink/water/tea or coffee with no sugar. Well I drink tea with a little sugar - not that unusual surely?

Jalima Thu 29-Dec-16 13:09:46

If I strode down our road (not at a fast pace I must admit) I may have trouble getting back up again.

rubylady Thu 29-Dec-16 18:45:32

I know I'm knackered so I'll give it a miss thanks! grin

MrsJamJam Thu 29-Dec-16 18:55:22

I also thought it was stupidly simplistic. I am another who never eats cereal and rarely potatoes, so that was two useless questions. In the end it told me what I know. I could do with losing a bit of weight!
And I am very happy with my evening glass of good red and do not propose to give that upwinkwine
