Welcome to a new you. This thread is for anyone to post regular updates on their improved health and lifestyle, be it food related, excercise or doing something for yourself which helps your mental health. I started out last September at 16 stones 10 pounds, now I weigh 15 stones 2 pounds. For the first time in years I am going to the hairdressers later. Get ready for No Snack February, there's a few days to eat those biscuits ? or chocolate bar ?. Good luck and I hope I'm not on my own doing this! ?Xxx

It will be most noticeable next time you sit on the saddle - ouch!

mumofmadboys Wed 01-Feb-17 13:28:01

No it feels ok at the moment but I expect later I may ache a bit! I now need to cycle regularly to try and improve my fitness level.

shysal Wed 01-Feb-17 12:57:25

Well done mumof. If you haven't been on a bike for a while, have you got a bruised bum? That used to be my main problem with cycling classes at the gym, despite padded shorts under my leggings plus plenty of my own padding!smile

mumofmadboys Wed 01-Feb-17 12:08:19

I have just got back from a ten mile cycle ride. A bit tired but pleased I managed to stay on my bike for the whole ride even the hills( even if I did think I was becoming asthmatic!!!)

rubylady Wed 01-Feb-17 10:55:08

No, I don't mind at all, I'll pop on to have a look ?. Xxx

rubylady Wed 01-Feb-17 10:50:19

Flowers I have sent to myself have arrived this morning, lovely. I need something after yesterday's mammogram, and then I got a parking fine! Anyway, onwards and upwards eh? Just a glass of water and a lovely cup of tea ☕️ this morning.

I am glad that so many are enjoying this thread, you all are full of determination to succeed in your quests, keep going, you are all doing so well, I am proud of you all. Xxx

I hope you don't mind, Ruby, but I have started a new thread for No Snack February. Good luck everybody!

Decided I would try and walk 10,000 steps every day in January.it was quite a challenge but I did it. Just added up all my steps and I average out at around 12,400 a day. Not sure I can keep this up every day as I have found I have to go out for a walk rain or shine to get to 10,000 steps. Pretty pleased with myself. However not sure it has helped with weight lose! Although I find I can walk for longer and feeling less tired, so that must be a good thing. Will join you all with no snacking in February.

Happy birthday Badenkate. Your lunch sounds yummy.

Badenkate Tue 31-Jan-17 17:05:24

Thank you shysal I shall enjoy it with my cup of tea - which thankfully is not virtual!

shysal Tue 31-Jan-17 16:58:15

Happy birthday Badenkate flowers. I am glad you are enjoying your day. Here is a low calorie virtual cake.

Back from my birthday lunch - and very enjoyable it was. I had wild boar and chorizo meatball with crisp sage polenta with tomato ragu as a starter; and then pan fried sea bass fillets with new potato and caper cake, brown shrimp, samphire, and white wine sauce. No pud (even though the three French men on the table next to us were tucking into sticky toffee puddings and apple and blackberry crumble with great enjoyment!). Only really naughty thing I had was a very tasty homemade shortbread biscuit with my coffee. So on Slimming World, I don't think that was too bad smile.

Sunday will be more difficult as we're going to DS's and DIL is cooking lunch for us - but DS is also trying to loose weight and tells me he's lost 10lb since the beginning of the year.

What a good idea this thread is Ruby you are an inspiration! smile

I am trying to get my weight down by keeping the carbs down although it isn't easy without excercise. I am aiming for 1lb a week.

I am not surprised you are a bit down if you have been contending with that horrendous form - enough to give anyone the pip! flowers

Kacee Tue 31-Jan-17 11:23:18

Thanks Mum

mumofmadboys Tue 31-Jan-17 11:03:21

That's a great start Kacee. Well done.

Kacee Tue 31-Jan-17 10:54:15

Happy birthday Rubylady hope you have a good one

Weight Watchers weigh in this morning. Lost another 1lb that's half a stone in 3 weeks. It sure goes on faster than it comes off.

Hope everyone else is doing well

Oh Rubylady, when I'm not happy with my hair it really affects my mood I find, even if everything else is OK, if I hate my hair I'm DOWN! Glad you have it sorted now, sounds quite funky.

Plus the other problems, just one of those rotten days sunshine Hope you feel better tomorrow.

megbelle Mon 30-Jan-17 21:06:48

Hope your feeling better ruby
Happy Birthday for tomorrow Badenkate
Weighed myself this morning 11st 12 lbs hoping to get at least 2 st off have been very good all day food wise but didn't get any walking in today too wet and cold .

DanniRae Mon 30-Jan-17 19:37:06

To you ruby flowers

wot Mon 30-Jan-17 18:33:43

Hope you feel even better tomorrow flowers ruby.

rubylady Mon 30-Jan-17 17:53:55

Thanks to you all, feeling a bit better now, cut my hair really short and bleached it again, looking better.

Badenkate if you only have half of each course, you could still have a pudding. When you've had a couple of spoonfulls of your pudding , put some salt on it. Then you can't have any more but you have had a taste. Happy Birthday for tomorrow. ? X

KatyK Mon 30-Jan-17 14:32:01

Badenkate Mon 30-Jan-17 14:02:35

Sorry to hear you're having a bad day Ruby but we're all thinking of you and we don't care what colour your hair is xx!

Now I need some support for tomorrow. It's my birthday and DH is taking me out for lunch. I have a terribly sweet tooth and desserts are going to be calling BUT I've told DH that I'm going to have a starter and a main course and no pud. I promise I will report tomorrow afternoon truthfully what I had, so you all will be my conscience!

Kacee Mon 30-Jan-17 14:00:21

Sorry your having a bad day Rubylady. I found the pip forms a pain and then I was rejected anyway. Hope mammogram goes ok tomorrow, grit your teeth and think of England!
GillT57 I find small goals are easier. If I think of the 8 stone I have to loose it overwhelms me but if I break it down to half a stone at a time I feel I can do it.
Next WW weigh in tomorrow, here's hoping.

GillT57 Mon 30-Jan-17 12:37:57

Brilliant idea Rubylady and sorry you are having a grotty day today. I have lost 24 lbs and want to lose more, but find that taking it in small steps helps me. For example, dropping to the next stone mark ( from 13 something to 12 something), then down to next half stone mark, etc. I am trying to up my exercise in a way that I enjoy as I loathe forced exercise, gyms, clubs, lycra and all that getting sweaty, so dog walking with rapid bursts is what I shall try. I aim to lose another 20 lbs and then see how I feel. My decision will be based on jeans size rather than weight. I shall join you on snack free February. Hope your day works out better for you, and good luck with small steps, everyone.
