Not about to shoot anyone but I've developed trigger finger in ring finger of right hand. It's fine during the day, but first thing in the morning it snaps into straight position with an almost audible twang! ( mixing my guns and arrows now) it's a tendon problem I know but does anyone have any hints, tips or useful exercises that may help?

Sorry no but I do sympathise - pain in the fingers is much worse than people realise. My rheumatologist wanted to send me for wax bath therapy for my painful swollen finger joints but they physios here have stopped doing it as it has no evidence of improving the condition only makes people feel better and we cant have that now can we.
I hope you find some relief soon.

I had this a few years ago and found it much worse in the morning when the finger had bent when I was asleep and didn't want to revert to it's normal position at all.
I bought a little splint on Amazon and wore it overnight. I took a few months but it completely cured itself!

As a nurse, going to a doctor is a last resort!!! grin

Mine was something like this!

I had this a few years ago. It was very painful. I used to open my hand in the morning after first giving it a soak in quite hot water. I think what sorted it for me was massage, I used to have a monthly massage and the lady used to massage my hand, wrist and forearm with soothing oils. I used to massage the hand myself through the day and I used those Chinese balls that you often see in charity shops to exercise the hand - you basically circle them around each other very gently. I think it's an inflammatory condition and I suspect I used a bit of ibuprofen gel too. I imagine a splint would help.

Mine has totally vanished now so take heart, it can be improved!

Thank you for the suggestions-I've ordered a finger splint to use overnight and will try some massage. It's just so annoying more than anything else.

I also had trigger finger a few years ago. I got as far as an appointment to see an orthopaedic hand surgeon but it took so long to get an appointment that it had almost cured itself by the time I saw him. The time scale was 4-5 months to give you an idea.
