I take serc aka betahistine tablets every day and have not had a Vertigo attack for nearly 3 years.

I had severe vertigo a couple of years ago - to the point that every head movement made me vomit. I eventually got gp to refer me to hospital for Epley manoeuvre, but up to that point was able to manage vertigo using Stugeron travel sickness tablets from chemist. Worked for me.

When I had an ear infection, the only symptom was the dizziness. I had no earache and didn't feel unwell.

My ear does get painful but not all the time. Will ask for epley and antibiotics. Have signed us headache off and on so this king that is not helping.

I had mild vertigo which was cured in my Pilates session when we did the first part of a backwards roll ie rolling back as far as the shoulders. On another occasion it was helped by being tipped backwards in the dentists chair. Possibly worth a try !

I had serc tablets for vertigo, it was caused by an inner ear infection, making my eardrum bulge which caused my vertigo.

I really think you should ask the GP to do the epley - ask another one if your`s isn`t helpful. It really needs to be done properly or it won`t be affective - and whilst it is being carried out you are likely to feel extremely dizzy - just for a few moments but you need someone to be supporting you.

When I had vertigo the diagnosis was an inner ear infection. Quickly cleared up by antibiotics.

Thank you everyone. waiting for ENT appointment
GP says it should ease up ovet the weessays. I read about epley on internet and have tried myself nut probably not doing it properly. It is the anxiety and depression attached to it as all sorts go through your mind. Trying relaxation too. Feel like I have an underlying tooth problem too and wonder if linked. Sorry to sound like a mad woman xx

I really sympathise as I had this last summer - it is really unpleasant and can make you feel very anxious.
Has your GP tried the Epley manouvre? It shifts the crystals in you ear which are causing the vertigo - you may need to have it done more than once. It may well make you feel worse for a few days while your brain adjusts but, don`t panic, that will settle down.

Some people get better straight away but I found that although the extreme vertigo improved I was left feeling quite "car sick" and unsteady walking around and I also had problems with my vision - especially using the computer. All in all the problem lasted about 10 weeks but now I am absolutely fine. If it came back again I would try the Epley manouvre immediately. I did try medication - can`t remember the name - but it didn`t help me

I also suffer from Vertigo, if the Epley manoeuvre doesn't work there is medication that can help.I always have some with me.
So sorry you are going through it, it is horrible.

Has your GP suggested any treatment? I have a friend who suffers regularly and she uses something called the Epley manoeuvre it a way of realigning the crystals in the ear that can cause Vertigo if they are in the wrong place.
I would speak to your GP to see if they think it might help 5weeks seems a long time to suffer.
