I started a Yoga class in February and I think it's wonderful. It does not hurt you and makes you feel so good. Does anybody else on here do Yoga? I would love to chat to you about it!

My friend loved it, apart from the farting which always seemed to happen during the last exercise/relaxation bit. It reduced her to giggles, which seemed to rather ruin the mood.

She switched to Italian classes instead.

Hi LCF I practice yoga regularly and attend a class once a week . I thoroughly enjoy it and believe it has helped my general health and wellbeing . Our teacher emphasises the need to work as individuals and to listen to our bodies. I'm sure you will benefit from regular yoga practice. Phoenix ( smile)

I enjoy yoga too. I have felt benefits. I enjoy the concentrating on breathing properly and feel much looser and balanced after a session. I normally go to a class once a week and try to do a small routine each day.

I like yoga too. Can't always achieve all the poses, but it makes me feel good.

grannybug to make a smiley (or any of the pictures, use square brackets and don't leave a space between the brackets on either side of the first and last letters, like so [word] smile

In other words put the word smile in the square brackets. Or wink or sunshine and so on.

I went to yoga classes for several years during my twenties. I haven't practiced since, but I would love to take it up again. Just last month I was looking for classes in my area, but drew a blank. I'll keep on looking though, as I think i it would improve my joint stiffness.

There are plenty on Youtube. A lady called Adrienne did a challenge for January - a different class every day. Some of her lessons are just 20 minutes, which can be good for a beginner or someone short of time.

If not, Hilda, would you consider Pilates? I did yoga in my 30s and 40s but when I went back to it later I found it difficult. Pilates concentrates on core strength and balance. You could give it a try if you don't find a yoga class.

I started about a year ago. The class I go to is brilliant. We don't go from pose to pose but build up small movements and then get to the pose. She bases her lessons on a sort of physiotherapy approach. I haven't been for about four weeks and can I tell the difference . My joints are seizing up and I am struggling to get up and down with GC. Do hope you find a class HildaJ.

I started yoga two or three years ago and absolutely love it! After trying various classes, I think I've found that Hatha and Yin yoga suit me best with an occasional Restorative session which is bliss . My stiff, swollen joints ( especially my knees) have improved significantly and I am generally much more flexible than before.

I think yoga is a brilliant form of exercise, I'm not particularly that good at it and find I get acid reflux in stances such as "downward dog" if I stay in that position too long, as for "head stands" I don't think I will ever get to that stage. I have a friend who has been doing it for years, in fact she left teaching to concentrate on her yoga classes which have grown over the years, she thinks it would be good to be taught in schools. I like the breathing and clearing the mind concept, although I don't manage to do that at all well. I haven't been for a while but I intend going back, my gym has something called "body balance" which is quite gentle and incorporates elements of yoga and pilates so I might try that as well.
