DH has BP problems. Advice appreciated.

DH had heart attack 11 years ago and had stent fitted. He's been perfectly well ever since, no angina or breathlessness but suffers from PVD in both legs.which he's adapted to pretty well. He has good walking range.

Obviously he's been on medication since his attack - beta blocker, ACE inhibitor, aspirin and clopidogrel. This has kept his bp at around 110/70 which doc is happy with. Recently, however, I've been a bit concerned re a 'vagueness' so persuaded him that go to doc. They discovered his bp had dropped to 90 over something (he didn't ask) but presume it was in the 50-60 range. His meds have been reduced and bp is to be checked on Friday.

I'm concerned as to why his bp should suddenly drop after all these years of stability,, but his misunderstanding of conversations is more concerning. It's nothing major and nothing that anybody else would notice. Could this slight vagueness be a symptom of his low bp?

Any ideas??

I think it could be connected - the low blood pressure might mean a lower blood supply to the brain, which I suppose might at times cause a slight vagueness. But that is just a guess, based on no knowledge whatsoever. This is when you wish you had gone with him to the doc and asked pertinent questions, though I daresay he would have said you were "fussing over him".

My DH had a stroke 10 years ago and takes all the medication you list. If his BP was below 110 then he would be comatose, rather than vague. He monitors his BP most days and there is a big range of results and doctors have told us this is quite normal. I do go in with him to appointments because he has language problems (Aphasia) and I would suggest you do the same, especially if you are concerned about him. Good luck!

I am on 7 different meds for my go and earlier this year mind suddenly dropped although I did not know at the time but I felt awful and had no energy ,all I wanted to do was to sleep.I lost my appetite for food as well as life. My gp dropped my doxasosin meds and all was well after about 3 to 4 days but today I've been back to see gp and it is raised again so he thinks we have to reintroduce the doxasosin ...very frustrating.
