Thank you so much Shysal, this is all a bit new but I'm not afraid to ask or look up stuff. I have an excellent osteopath who is a very wise lady who has known me for years and I am having treatment from her at the moment as my back is in need anyway and she suggested pmr very quickly last week and all the symptoms fit. It ha s been an exhausting week of celebration so thought I had overdone it etc but now I am 'clean' again so monitoring what I am doing. Very open to natural remedies but not in a over the top manner just a common sense one with the hope of avoiding drugs. Anyway I'm chuffed by your response so will keep u posted, thanks again xx

You won't know for sure without a blood test. I have PMR and have chosen not to take steroids. I seem to have the condition mildly, but many patients have no choice but to take them and they do give relief. I was lucky to be diagnosed around the same time as another Gnetter, so we became PMR buddies, emailing regularly to compare notes or just have a good moan! She was very poorly so had to take the medication, which she hates, but hopes to be off it soon. The condition tends to burn itself out after around 2 years or sometimes longer. It has been 18 months for me so hopefully the end is in sight. We read the following book which might interest you. I see also on Amazon there is a polymyalgia cookbook, which could be helpful to you.

Anyone got experience of this, I suspect I have it but am extremely reluctant to start the steroid route and am looking at natural alternatives. My mum has the first bit so I see how it works etc but just thought I'd ask the gnetters
