Chilblains

Witch hazel cream or calamine lotion to ease the itching. Chilblains usually go away on their own, at least mine did.

In my teens and twenties, I suffered dreadfully from Chilblains. The pain was awful.
I used to take a vitamin supplement which produced a hot flush but I can't remember what is was.
As soon as I left work and didn't get such icy feet travelling on public transport for 2/3 hours a day I never had them again.
I am sure the winters were colder and longer then.

I’m keeping my socks on tonight in the hope the itching won’t start. The joys of getting older.

ann Was it Vitamin K? I seem to remember taking that years ago.

My toes used to get swollen, painful, itchy and SO hot! I can remember one occasion when I was in M & S and my feet were so bad that I sat on the floor, took my boots and socks off to cool my feet down. I wanted to cry, but the stiff upper lip just about held up!!

The only thing that brought temporary relief was to put my feet in very hot water. That sounds completely counterintuitive, but seemed to work. You’re advised to alternate between that and ice cold water, but I couldn’t bear the cold water, it used to make my whole leg twitch.
