My hubby has extremely low potassium, he has a blood test every year due to meds he takes and we just prepare ourselves for the phone call from the surgery (the first time it was from the Path Lab at the hospital) to tell him he needs to see a Dr asap, his level is around 2.5. He has had several checks now, improves his levels by eating around 4 bananas a day which has been agreed is not sustainable (!), but then it drops again back to 2.5. He eats spinach every day and only uses de-caf tea and eats high potassium foods. It would appear that he is an anomaly and he is ticking along fine with this low level, BUT, it can be a medical emergency, so I expect that if you are not being seen for a couple of weeks that your result is just out of normal range. My hubby has had all the necessary checks by the medics for them and us to reach this conclusion, but because our surgery has loads of Dr’s, whoever picks up his results ends up with us going thro the whole double check process again, but better safe than sorry. Hope you get sorted soon.
