Undetected pain

Well, another rush to the hospital at 1am and another battery of tests for 5 days. Still no diagnosis but at least this time I have some heavy duty painkillers which I didn't have last time.
My grand-daughter suggests some mild stretching as she had a trapped nerve and freed it by doing that. Anything is worth a try.

I can't say what it is but when I had fairly bad pain in my right abdomen, the doctor gave me antibiotics which made no difference.
Like you I went to hospital to have xrays, ultrasound and scans. After several days in there , eureka! A blood test showed high levels of calcium the sign of a malfunctioning parathyroid gland. So back to the scanner, this time in my neck, .
I had surgery to remove the enlarged gland and calcium levels dropped to normal.
Better still the pain disappeared.
I think they told me the pain was a build up of calcium on the muscle but I don't think they really knew.
Hyperparathyroidism used to me known as stones, bones and moans and fairly common amongst women our age!!

Although I would have thought the hospital would have diagnosed that. I've had it several times and it is extremely painful.

My reaction was that it might be pleurisy. Your symptoms sound very similar to how I felt. I was told it was viral, so no tests done and just given painkillers. It was later discovered that it was bacterial.
Breathing comfortably was very difficult.

Could it be a pinched nerve? DH had sudden pain like this in his shoulder, where he had had mild pain before and this is what it was. It only showed on an MRI scan. He was then given Gabapenten rather than Panadol.

No medical background, just based on similarities. Something must be causing it.
