I've started using Castille soap on my hair. It seems to clean more thoroughly than shampoo, and doesn't leave a residue.

Ahh but do you leave the tap running whilst using your bar of soap? The nurses drive me potty leaving our tap running for each other whilst they are washing their hands, if they have to lather up soap as well my water bill will be astronomical! grin

I have substituted bars of soap for liquid hand soap in plastic bottles. It is a small change but I think back to the days when I had a drawer full of plastic shopping bags from the supermarket. The 5p charge for these bags made me take reusable shoppers instead. Many individuals making small but permanent changes will make a difference. I will now try the shampoo bar.

I intend to go back to bars of soap , but I have a stock of plastic bottles to use up first . My Daughters find the shampoo bars good , I have only heard of them recently

Like travelsafar I’m back using soap. Very hard to find one without palm oil but Neal’s Yard do four very pleasant ones.

What a great idea. I have stopped using shower gels and liquid handsoap and gone back to bars of soap. Will look into these shampoo bars. I also worry about toothpaste tubes and dispensers. Why can we not go back to the thin metal tubes of years gone by, at least they could be recycled.

I like the Lush Silica bar. It sounds expensive at £15 for 100gram but it doubles as a conditioner and, as I have very short hair and only need to wash it twice a week, it will last me up to a year. Great for my blonde highlights. Easy to chop off a small piece to pack for travelling light.

I’m thinking of trying shampoo bars instead of keep wasting all these plastic bottles . Has anyone tried them , do you have any recommendations .
