Im 59 and have just been diagnosed with cataract both eyes and narrow anterior chamber angles with risk of angle closure attacks, which I've been told is due to mild glaucoma.
They said they could operate for cataracts and at same time deal with the narrow drainage chambers in eyes, or I could just have laser surgery to make narrowing wider and do cataracts another time if preferred.
I have a big fear of anything with eyes (due to something that happened in childhood) and the thought of being awake and having this done terrifies me! I cant even put eye drops in my own eyes well or watch anything about eyes on TV. Undergone some major surgeries in my life, but total coward when it comes to the eyes and being away in surgery, having eyes fixed open so you cant blink - it makes me feel physically sick.
So Im asking here has anyone thats had this surgery find it ok or not nice, uncomfortable, painful? As I don't know whether to have laser and do cataracts another time or do the whole thing at once as my vision is definitely getting worse.
Thank you all.
