Can anyone offer any suggestions for nearly constant mouth ulcers?

My son has always had problems with mouth ulcers and the GP has linked it to his coeliac disease.
He's really careful with his diet but recently his mouth has 'erupted' and is so painful.
Dentist can't offer any advice and the GP has prescribed the usual mouthwash.
Any advice on other things he could try gratefully received.

Kingfisher toothpaste has helped dh. Stress is a big factor too.

Horrible things. The ones on gums don’t hurt as much as the exquisite pain from ones on the tongue. Warm salt water mouth washes do help. Paracetamol. A tube of Oromorph from the pharmacist.

They pull you down, make you exhausted, wake you from sleep if your tongue catches against your teeth in the first, most painful, couple of days.

As Urmstongran said, warm salt water as a mouth rinse as it kills bacteria which exacerbates the condition.

I have used glycerin with success.

Yes I always had dreadful ones until I realised that I was gluten intolerant. Now I get them very occasionally. They usually last about 10 days and nothing I do seems to help.

Igloo gel is quite good, because it sort of sets, and protects the ulcers from catching on your teeth.
