Sorry, Prolapse.

Hello all who read this, I thought I'd come here as I'm a wee bit scared, I had major Kidney surgery in January due to mis-diagnosis, upshot is on coming home I realised my insides were trying to escape.
I went to my local clinic whereby a general g.p., whom I hadn't seen before told me I had indeed a prolapse.
After her trying to fit a ring thing, it fell out the same day, I phoned to speak to her but as seems to be the general thing nowadays, I couldn't get through to her.
But I think with internal & object, Prolapse must have got pushed back a bit & has been kind of alright until now.
Can anyone reassure me as to how to fix this please.
I thank you for your time & patience in reading this.

If the prolapse is mild you can live with it. You can improve it (or slow down any worsening) by doing kegel or pelvic floor exercises. Michelle Kenway, an Australian physio, has a website with suitable exercises.
You can ask your GP to refer you to a Urogynaecologist who will be an expert in this. They can fit a pessary or recommend a hysterectomy if they think suitable. I had a hysterectomy for prolapse. Mine worsened very quickly and I was happy to have a hysterectomy.

If this is post op Tricia55 I would ring your Kidney specialists secretary and ask for an appointment.

I had a prolapse earlier this year, I had to wait for a doctor’s appointment. By the time the appointment arrived it had cured itself! I have been doing pelvic floor exercises regularly and all seems well so far.

If your ring fell out, the chances are it was the wrong size. Once it is in, it shouldn’t move and you shouldn’t feel it. As GrandmaMoira says ask for a referral to a urogynaecologist. Hope you get it sorted out - something you don’t need to live with .

The rings come in different sizes - too small and they fall out, too big and they can inhibit the water works.....perhaps you need to go back and have another go. I've had one now (changed every 6 months) for over 5 years and its been a huge benefit. At our surgery a senior nurse practitioner fits them and she has more time and the right attitude and experience. I also do some simple core exercises, nothing very strenuous but I am sure it helps.

The other thing I was advised was no heavy lifting. I think my prolapse got worse quickly as I ignored that advice.

Quite, I also abandoned heavy upright hoover and went to a light weight rechargeable one.

You Poor thing. The kidney surgery sounds serious and you need to recover from it.
I had a hysterectomy for prolapse more than 10 yrs ago. I still have some prolapse issues and should do pelvic floor exercises. I do Pilates which helps. I see a physio sometimes. Everything helps a bit.
Avoid heavy lifting.
I wasn't the right shape for a pessary.
I blame it on having babies but my gt gran had 12 and lived until 92, still active.

Hello Sparkly Grandma,
I contacted my Urologist who rather abruptly pointed out it was a G.P., matter.
It's one of those things you don't really want to discuss a tad embarrassed.
I of course contacted Dr. Google, I know wrong as you get bombarded with devices that will work wonders. Hmmmm, I'm sure.

Thank you all for your advice & comments, it good to know I can come here & get advice.
I certainly don't want to live with it as it's totally uncomfortable, I do think I'll need to concentrate more on P.F., exercises.
I always thought I was doing them properly, but obviously not, I was also extremely fit, doing 7 Zumba classes per week & I got a real buzz from that, but I've cut back due to the discomfort.
Once again lovely ladies thank you for listening & helping.

My mum had a vaginal prolapse (she'd had a hysterectomy years before) and had the ring fitted. She'd lived with the problem for quite a time before finally going to the drs. The ring worked and although she found the 6 monthly change of it uncomfortable she had no more problems. I would definitely go back and ask to try a different size.

You'd need a cervix like a bulldog clip to keep those things in.

I do strongly recommend Pilates and let your teacher know about your condition There are great exercises for strengthening the core muscles. Why do I need a class in order to do them? You may well ask.
I go to Yoga as well.

I would also suggest making a physio appt. You can ask your GP to do that for you. If you don't ask, they wont . Squeakiest door etc.

It turned out a local Physio was going to run a class for a few of us all suffering. Some of us could remember doing our antenatal classes in the same room and no more embarrassing!

Tricia55 good luck, sorry the Urologist wasn’t more helpful.
